IRAQ: Armed foreign gangs fleeing, reports (terrorists in Ramadi on the run)
AKI ^ | 2006 Jun 20

Baghdad, 20 June (AKI) - Sources in Ramadi in the restive al-Anbar province report that large groups of armed foreign militants are fleeing towards the Syrian border, as US and Iraqi forces tighten their siege on the city. Ramadi, some 100 kilometres west of Baghdad, is a stronghold of the insurgency and there are reports of many residents also fleeing in fear of an assault. Sources told Adnkronos International (AKI) that local tribes were also pursuing foreign terrorists "because of the immense damage they have done to infrastructure and the bad name they have given the insurgency by terror attacks against innocent civilians."

The sources added that "the armed men are heading towards the highlands near the Euphrates in an effort to find a secure refuge," emphasising that "the murder of the head of the Karabila tribe, Osama al-Jadaan, in al-Mansour last month, by al-Qaeda operators, triggered a vendetta by his relatives and followers."

sheik,
Rub him in pork fat first, have him touch a dead person, let a woman see him naked and then... let him go

I'd hate to see these animals merely melt away into the population or over the border.

Doesn't the concept of "hot pursuit" apply here?

The problem is that when they flee they do not do that in a military convoy fashion, but they regular cars and mix among civilians.

"I mean, we're going to let them slip away?"

That does sound stupid, doesn't it? Then they can come back in a few days or weeks and cause some more trouble.

"By the way, where are the B-52s? Why are we allowing large groups of foreign fighters to flee? Why are they not being churned up into chum by our air assets?"

Because the is wedding season in Iraq and we don't want to be responsible for killing brides.

How do you know we are not cutting them off the pass? How do you that they are fleeing and they are not trapped inside Ramadi?

Well they got the attention of the members of the 101st Airborne, that is for sure.

I sure would not want to be in their line of fire.

The civilians in the towns along the Syrian border know their own, and know who are strangers.

We've been there along the Syrian border working with the Iraqi civilians for a while now. I don't believe they want another cockroach infiltration. Praying they work with us now on identifying the strangers that are coming there.

Yup, Murtha is right. Sounds like it's time for us to retreat to Okinawa.

We'd better be quick about our retreat, because if there is any more delay we may inadvertently win the war first. Those military bastards! Anything to embarrass the Democrats!

Well, as you know the first thing that goes out the window when all H**l breaks loose is the war plan, so all we can do now is pray this goes as planned for a change.

We're definitely due for a break.
