At Six Flags, the Don'ts of Dos Employees Say Their Ethnic Hairstyles Are Challenged as 'Extreme,' and They've Complained to ACLU By Avis Thomas-Lester Washington Post Staff Writer Saturday, June 17, 2006; B01 It's right there, under "Extreme Hairstyles," in the 2006 seasonal handbook for Six Flags America employees: no dreadlocks, tails, partially shaved heads "or any hairstyle that detracts or takes away from Six Flags theming." Braids "must be in neat, even rows and without beads or other ornaments," the amusement park handbook advises.

They are telling me I have to change something about me. They are telling me I have to change what I am. I won't do that." No, the employer is telling you that you look like crap and it's time to grow up if you want the job otherwise find employment elsewhere.

Dear God, what will it take to rid this country of the ACLU ???

This is an issue of burning importance. I can't stand by while these poor employees are culturally insensitized to to death! Oh wait, I can and I will. And no, insensitized isn't a word.

I'm sick of having to accomodate standards for the "ethnically challenged." Look, MF: If you want a Du-Rag or a McKinney cut, go work at Popeye's Chicken.

Sad when you have to tell people to comb their hair, pull up their pants, not hang out of their shirts, wear tops long enough that their belly doesn't show when they stretch or their butt doesn't show when they bend over, wear shoes, take off the dog collars, eye brow rings, tongue rings , cow rings in their nose, finger fangs and to wear underwear. Do they let them dress like this in school?

The one guy had three foot long braids.
If he'd gotten it caught in some machinery, he'd have sued Six Flags.

Today's teens/young adults have no concept of looking professional to prospective employers whatsoever. My first job was with Taco Bell when I was 16 and I wore a dress shirt, tie, and pants to the interview.
I now work at a health insurance company and we held job fairs for the new Medicare Part D program. I watched as dozens of young adults came in with piercings, uncombed hair, t-shirts with graphic language on it, speaking slang/profanity, etc. Just disgusting.

Do they let them dress like this in school? Only on formal occasions.

That's what modern society does to America. You threw out all the old-fashioned values, now you pay the piper. Luckily, here in the South we still have a respect for tradition, because outside of say, tattoo shops, we don't hire freaks with mohawks, men with long hair, or people who dress like gang members.
