I love your advice. Isn't it the truth? I was sitting with a man at a funeral (outdoors, a celebratory-party thingee), and he was almost weepy as he told me he and his wife scrimpted and saved all their lives, foregoing any extravagances, hoping to travel in their old-age. Now, he was older and had money, and she had died.

Moral - live life now.

You are SO right. We are blessed!

And I don't ever take God's merciful gift to this country for granted!

. . . or do you mean the entire CEREMONY from start to finish?

Since they provided a streaming video of the entire event, the USMMA may eventually provide a copy or link to the entire thing:

Again, where does this man get his energy?!

I know that there are many, even those who are fans of GWB's who wouldn't necessarily agree, but I do believe that God has equipped GWB for this very important task in many ways, one of those being the energy he has for the work at hand. I also suspect that his years of good habits (exercise, nutrition, sleep, etc.) are paying off.

I sure agree.

I think it was Miss Marple who noted some time back that very few people have the combination of gifts and personal characteristics that President Bush has.

God has truly equipped him for leadership 'at such a time as this.' He needs optimism, energy, strength of character and conviction, bluntness mixed with grace, clear-headedness combined with compassion, a love for people and country, (not to mention an incredible, loving partner in life in Laura)............qualities that rarely come together in one person.

"....for such a time as this."

I am so glad we did white water rafting and ocean kayaking and backpacking, etc. when I was younger.

No way I could do any of that now.

We went to France and Alaska and Hawaii and Colorado on some great vacations.

The one place I really wanted to travel to was Australia, but don't think we'll be able to afford that ever, and physically I couldn't do the things I would have wanted to do if we went there now.

Still, I have some great memories, one of which is lying with my hubby in a cabana under some pine trees on a beach at Maui all afternoon sipping one tropical drink after another.

Mmmmmmmmmmm....

MUST READS:

PRESIDENT ENJOYS REVERSAL OF FORTUNE
[DrDeb's caveat: It's SUMMER and with summer comes low/lower JA ratings for the President (only Democrats/Democrat-leaners waste their time talking to pollsters during the summer) . . . Just remember, during the summer of 2004, the President's JA and re-elect numbers were (supposedly) horrible, yet we all know what happened the following November! IGNORE THE POLLS!]
By Joseph Curl
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
June 19, 2006

What a difference a month makes.

Just four weeks ago, President Bush was in free fall, racing toward lame-duck status faster -- and earlier -- than any modern president had and plummeting in the polls to a scant 29 percent approval rating. He also was reeling from dramatic missteps that sent his once loyal conservative base running for the hills.

But just as emboldened Democrats began to predict a landslide victory in this November's midterms, everything changed, as it often does inside the Beltway during an election year.

"We were a 100 feet down, running out of oxygen, couldn't see the surface -- didn't even know which way was up -- and it's like we pulled some kind of rip cord and suddenly floated to the top," said one former senior administration official. "Washington is a crazy place, isn't it?"

I particularly enjoyed Taranto's telling observation:

AL QAEDA MARKDOWN:
"The U.S. military presented the new face of al-Qaeda in Iraq[**] on Thursday, displaying a photograph of a bearded man in a traditional white Arab headdress and saying he was taking over after the death of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi," reports the Associated Press:

"The new leader is Abu Ayyub al-Masri, an Afghanistan-trained explosives expert with links to Osama bin Laden's top deputy, said Maj. Gen. William Caldwell. . . .

Even before terror leader's death, the Bush administration posted a $200,000 bounty on al-Masri because of his level of leadership within al-Qaeda, Caldwell said."

Ouch! The reward for Zarqawi was $25 million, so this is a decrease of 99.2%. Al-Masri has to be pretty humiliated.

** Or, as Democrats call it, al Qaeda Which Has Nothing to Do With Iraq in Iraq Which Has Nothing to Do With al Qaeda.

Yikes snugs, my first ping to the Dose and it was tardy. :o) I thought maybe it was some kind of initiation. Since I'm the newbie ping-ee, I'll take responsibility for it being late.
Anyway thanks for these fun pictures. Our President looked to be enjoying himself at the graduation. I am so glad - no one deserves a lighter moment than this man who carries the worries and cares of our country. A good thing he walks with the Lord to ease his burden.

Zest, energy, and vinegar. That certainly sums it up well.

Here he is looking extra spicy.

Oh Patty, I am glad to hear you healed up. Do you have to stay away from acidic foods now? Don't know how I could live without my morning OJ. And alcohol? One margarita (light on the salt please) every couple weeks is all my head can take. Life has changed, eh?

Mr.h is very picky about his underwear, too. I pity the girl HE marries . . . wait a minute, I AM that girl! LOL! Well, sometimes I pity me . . .

You were nice to take them all along, even though I'm sure you could have done it in less than 1/4 the time!

I have seen those! I like to make my own creations with various fruit juices and "adult" beverages. I get good ideas from what's already out there.

Hi there, Purple.

I saved this one for you.

Dubya's always dollish in denim, but this photo is my favorite. That small half-smile really drives up the spice factor.
