The Democrats' Withdrawal Conundrum

The only thing more pathetic than the Democrats' floundering disunity on the war is their timing. They have renewed their demands for a precipitous withdrawal in Iraq at a time when even they would be hard pressed to deny that the momentum has changed against the terrorists.

Don't get me wrong. I think we have been winning all along in Iraq, despite the wall-to-wall negative coverage. But recent developments must surely give the naysayers pause as well.

The death of Iraq terrorist chieftain Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was a watershed event. That we were able to find this elusive leader in the Iraqi haystack was a remarkable achievement and one that signaled the fruits of a sustained intelligence effort. The event itself was monumental in that the primary leader of our enemy in Iraq was eliminated.

But perhaps the most significant aspect of the event is that it led to a bonanza of intelligence discoveries that both shed light on the enemy's mindset and provided information that allowed us to conduct further highly productive raids. Yet despite these developments, defeatist Democrats see only gloom and doom.

Well, that and the $25 mill reward.

Money well spent.

The Dems don't fear that we will lose. They need for us to lose.

The closer we come to victory, the more desperate they will be for a pull-out. You must remember that they fought us all during the Cold War, and only after the Iron Curtain collapsed did they suddenly switch sides and claim to have been our brothers-in-arms all along. They screamed that we couldn't win in Afghanistan until we won, and then suddenly it became the good war, the one they were supposedly in favor of all along.

Viet Nam is their model, its what this generation of Democrats have built their lives upon, engineering the defeat of the US in Southeast Asia was the high point of their glory days, and they are stuck in a time loop as they attempt to live and relive it. Communist head-choppers have been replaced in the new version of the old tale with arab headchoppers, but headchoppers are headchoppers, and what difference does it make? As long as nothing happens to intrude on their fantasy version of geopolitics, it makes no difference.

As long as they can get film footage of soldiers hanging from helicopters as they are evacuated out of Baghdad, Mogadishu, Saigon, whereever, it makes no difference, they're fine. The mass graves that must follow as surely as night follows day, they will never see, and if they have to think about it, they'll just make a movie where they get to show their angst and lay the blame off on someone else.

And for the rubes out here who believe in America, they'll make a ration of stupid action movies where conflicted ex-soldiers go back into Iraq, and this time they really kick butt.

I agree.. they are pressing like mad because they see this as their last chance to turn this into a route.. that if they let things go much further, the Insurgency will give up hope and the US will win. With their complete and utter humiliation following on the coat tails of that.. because the spin of the last 3 years will rip right into each and every one of them.

Victory has 1000 fathers. Defeat is a Bastard child.

The Dems sense they are in mortal peril at this point and I wouldn't be surprised to see some elements of the wacko's actually cooperating with the Terrorist types to help them have a success in the US before November.. if things keep going well.

Democrats would allow Cambodian style killing fields here as long as they could return to power.

What is the one thing you can be absolutely sure will never be said about Democrats?
