aw, it'll be fun. Last night, Art spent the first half hour talking about live in the Phillippines and how great it is to be an American with lost of USD to spend.
Sorry y'all, that's how it sounded to me. Kind of elitist and snobby.

I'm guessing that Congress got involved, and special interests bought legislation increasing the number of licenses, while
the existing holders paid Congress for the clear channels.
The Feds get more license revenue, too. Throw in the anti-monopoly crowd, etc.
Then there's the population increases/shifts too. And the intro of tv, and fm.
Now, the NAB works to limit lpfm licenses, the US/Canada didn't follow Europe's going to 9khz band spacing that
would have increased the number of AM licenses before the digital tuning age took hold, although most radios have
the 9/10 switch. Not sure of OEM car radios, though.

Do you think Hoagland Knows Walter Cronkite? I think the question should be, does Cronkite know Hoagland! (answer: no)
To: lainie

I have not read her book (or any of them), so I cant really comment.
Geez... Art dropped out less than a minute into the show!
To: lainie
As an old Bell listener I must agree with you. Art isn't the same as the 80's and 90's. Thanx for this thread Lainie.

It'll definitely need an external antenna... it has no built-in.
It's actually a ham radio.

What's the deal with Art. I know he went over to marry a child bride a bare 6-8 weeks after Ramona died. Is he over there permanently? Did he sell the Parump radio station and his home? What about his ham radio operation?

When Stephen Hawking talks, people listen... LOL!
To: CedarDave
He was going to sell it all, but had second thoughts. He wants to bring his wife to Nevada to have her check it all out first.
To: CedarDave
He kept his Nevada home and the radio station. I think, for now, this is a "permanent" move. The things he sold were things that would not appreciate such as his RV.
No idea about the ham radio operation.

Seriously, I really like hanging with you all each week. I'm glad to have a nice chat outlet.. and I'm still a Drudge fan for sure.I definitely agree. And I look forward to the Drudge Thread Ping every Sunday night (so's I don't have to go looking for the thread. ;-)
Thanks for hostessing once again, lainie, and I'll see y'all next week, same Drudge-time, same Drudge-channel!
