Free Republic Tenth Anniversary Plans (Vanity)

The tenth anniversary of Free Republic is coming up (this November!) As a result, I would like to see some sort of a get-together take place, in either San Diego, Arizona, Texas or Florida (or some other venue in a Freeper-friendly part of the country). What I would really like to see is someone, perhaps a well-known or wealthy lurker, help organize a Freeper Convention that would include banners, flags, Freeper stuff for sale at booths, a Freeper "museum" with displays centering on famous Freeper moments (threads, Freeper Actions, well-known and infamous Freepers, and Freeper lore, etc). Also, I'd like to see a well-known guest speaker emcee the event (Rush Limbaugh? Ann Coulter?) For entertainment, I'd like to see Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Cosby or some other well-known, preferably conservative (or at least not rabid left-wing) entertainers. Any plans afoot for something like this? It would be a blast and we could all get to meet each other in person (travel arrangements could be made for Freepers in other countries).

No, it's on my list of ought to read books. I keep buying books on my list, but haven't read them all. I still have an unread copy of 1776 on the shelf...

I'm not criticizing San Diego. It's really a protest against mostly SF...Maybe they should make SF and environs it's own state...

You won't find any opposition here.
At one time, SF was a great place to visit. Haven't been there in years.
Their city council boycotted California raisins, then wondered why the farm communities started boycotting SF. A bunch of DemBulbs.

"I would like to see a list of the Top 100 threads in FR history." Not much chance of that. The top-100 hx threads would no longer be permitted on this forum.
Even one or two by JR himself would no longer be permitted by the censors.

I think it's a doggone shame that Rush, Matt, Sean and Ann aren't asking Jim Robinson and his sons to come to *their* anniversaries! The Robinsons are, in large part, the reason these people are famous!Rush was famous at least a decade before FR was ever thought of and Sean has been on the radio since 1987. So how do they owe their fame to the Robinsons?

What a great idea. I vote for San Diego- a red county. Lots of military are there. It's also beautiful, and has many family friendly places to go i.e. Sea World, Wild Animal park, the Zoo exc.
If not SD, the Ronald Reagan library would fit well with FR, if it has an area where an event could be held.

Also the campture of the DC snipers. FR did pretty good on that...had it WAY before the MSM.
A couple of other threads were the tracking to the ride into DC by Ted and Thunder during x42's impeachment. We tracked them for weeks and checked in LIVE as they galloped into DC.
Then - even though it turned out to be a non story - I liked the time late on Saturday night/early Sunday morning eastern when Drudge reported a seismic event near Murmansk. We all stayed up thorugh the night and tracked it down to smething like a janitor knocking a peice of equipment with a mop a russion geological station.
Gosh, come to think of it there are SO MANY remarkable, memorable threads.

You want to send your copy of 1776 to the troops?
You can get a cheap used copy later at Amazon to replace it when you're ready to read it.
Or buy a cheap used copy now and sent it to the troops.

1776 is an amazing book, but John Adams was almost life-changing.
Anyway, at the very end of the book is a passage I thought you might appreciate, and, *sigh*, I'll type it out for you here. (I'm a really lousy typist... LOL).
Anyway..."You are not singular in your suspicions that you know but little," he [John Adams] had told [his granddaughter] Caroline, in response to her quandary over the riddles of life. "The longer I live, the more I read, the more patiently I think, and the more anxiously I inquire, the less I seem to know... Do justly. Love mercy. Walk humbly. This is enough. ..."
