Free Republic Tenth Anniversary Plans (Vanity)

The tenth anniversary of Free Republic is coming up (this November!) As a result, I would like to see some sort of a get-together take place, in either San Diego, Arizona, Texas or Florida (or some other venue in a Freeper-friendly part of the country). What I would really like to see is someone, perhaps a well-known or wealthy lurker, help organize a Freeper Convention that would include banners, flags, Freeper stuff for sale at booths, a Freeper "museum" with displays centering on famous Freeper moments (threads, Freeper Actions, well-known and infamous Freepers, and Freeper lore, etc). Also, I'd like to see a well-known guest speaker emcee the event (Rush Limbaugh? Ann Coulter?) For entertainment, I'd like to see Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Cosby or some other well-known, preferably conservative (or at least not rabid left-wing) entertainers. Any plans afoot for something like this? It would be a blast and we could all get to meet each other in person (travel arrangements could be made for Freepers in other countries).

Any thoughts or ideas?

threads I would like to see a list of the Top 100 threads in FR history. I'm pretty sure FReeper Oldeconomybuyer's WORLD TRADE CENTER would be the greatest thread of all time.

Maybe we could have get-togethers in more than one place. I mean, the DC crowd does so much to represent us FReepers. We could bring our laptops and contribute live to the same thread! Oh well, that's why I'm not an event planner......

Great Idea! 10 years already? BJgate seems like it was only yesterday.

I have UnixFox's WTC thread saved. I read it it from time to time. That day was when I really became a FReeper..

If it will be a large gathering, Las Vegas is always good in terms of number of hotels with a wide range of prices. (And of course other fun stuff to do. ;))
If we could get Rush to speak, that would be awesome!
The only downside is that Kos will think we are copying them, as far as the location, lol.

Maybe we can do a re-enactment of Clinton's impeachment. Some lucky FReeper will have to play Slick.
To: thoughtomator
I doubt that will be needed since there won't be any Democrats there...

Texas, Texas, have it in Texas!
We have the greatest number of Freepers and we always give the MOST during the fund-raiser.
Is there someone going to be the keeper of the Freeper 10-Year Celebration Planning?
(I can't volunteer, I just got a new horse.)

I read it too every now and then. I have the original saved. I predict it'll get BUMPED heavily as this is the 5th anniversary of the attacks.

San Diego would be a great place for this event.
Great weather in Nov. many great venues, SD International Airport located less than 5 mins. from downtown. Amtrack located downtown.
Tons of Hotels.
San Diego has a large number of FReepers and close for FReepers in Orange Co., LA, & Ventura Cos., etc.
Also we have the largest concentration of military here in San Diego in the world
We have the world famous Zoo, Sea World, Beaches, etc.

Maybe we can sell raffle tickets for that honor to cover the expense of the Monica stand(?)in.

I think I became a Freeper when Al Gore tried stealing the election. The threads back then where also huge.
I remember back then that if you didn't close out your html tags, then they would propagate to the next posts, until someone posted with the close tags.

I love t6he idea. But in terms of the all time gonzo great organic coming together, there will never be anything to equal the great Free Republic Inaufural and Count The Silverware Party when we threw Algore out of Cheney's house and told Bill Clinton to "Drop the cigar, step away from the intern and come out with your pants up!"
We went on so long, they had to throw us out of the hotel at about 3:00AM!

Yes, but we Texans have drought, the Rio Grande swarming with illegals, I-35 packed with Mexicans driving semis and completely unsure of what SPEED LIMIT 70 MPH means, greasy baby backs, good rodeo and Billy Bob's.
What more could you want?
