PARIS About 70 percent of French people are dissatisfied with President Jacques Chirac's performance, an all-time low popularity rating, according to poll published Sunday.
Only 27 percent of French people are satisfied with Chirac, compared to 70 percent who say they disapprove, said the poll by the Ifop agency published in Le Journal du Dimanche newspaper.
Chirac's popularity figures tied his record low also the record for any president in the Fifth Republic that began in 1958, the paper said. Chirac's second term ends next year, and he is unlikely to seek re-election.
The poll figures were even worse for Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin: 73 percent said they were dissatisfied with him, compared to 23 percent satisfied.

That's funny. Chiraq got over 85% of the vote in 2002.

What, are the French looking for someone who can appease the Mohammedans even more??
Actually, the tide is turning against the increasing Mohammedanization of France and Europe (at least among the people).

That's what I was thinking. They French are emotional, cheese-eating, surrender monkeys, but I didn't think they were capable of turning their emotions around this quickly.
Must be all that wine they can't sell - or, as I like to call it, "pre-vinegar".

He was running against Le Pen.
That would be like running John Kerry against David Duke.....although Kerry would probably have to settle for 75%.

That would be like running John Kerry against David Duke.....although Kerry would probably have to settle for 75%. France as a direct election with a runoff. The US has the Electoral College. I seriously doubt David Duke would receive a single Electoral vote. People who would do away with the Electoral College should take a look at the 2002 French election for President.

If memory serves, I believe that Chirac is at risk of prosecution, after leaving office, related to a Paris scandal. If so, let's hope he gets nailed.
