Former Reagan administration diplomat Alan Keyes is slated to speak in Utah June 21 at the Provo City Library's ballroom on the topic "Solutions to America's border crisis."

Also speaking will be Carmen Mercer, spokeswoman for the national Minuteman Political Action Committee.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. Mountain Time, and is free and open to the public.

The speeches--which will be preceded by a free screening of the prize-winning documentary "Cochise County: Cries from the Border" and followed by a question and answer session--will address America's ongoing political debate over border security and immigration reform.

Key points of focus will include the national security and public policy implications of failing to protect our borders; President Bush's latest border security proposals; analysis of conflicting House and Senate immigration bills; and Mexican President Vicente Fox's recent visit to Utah, which included an address before the Utah State Legislature.

A leading voice in the current immigration debate, Ambassador Keyes served 11 years in the U.S. State Department. Under President Reagan, he was Assistant Secretary of State for International Organizations. Prior to that, he served as ambassador to the United Nations Economic and Social Council, where he represented the interests of the United States in the UN General Assembly.

Keyes supports the efforts of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, a volunteer border watch organization that monitors illegal incursions into American territory, and whose volunteer membership is building a privately-funded fence to help secure the U.S.-Mexican border.

Said Keyes of his visit, "I always look forward to coming to Utah. This is a state where the people are committed to the faith, values, and decency that have made this nation strong and free."

The event is sponsored by RenewAmerica, Utah Eagle Forum, and Minuteman Political Action Committee.

Why is Dane so interested in this race? And Dane, please stop with those "biting" one line comebacks. I have got your argument

Well first of all, if you are going to mention me by name, you could have the gonads to ping me.

Second, I'm interested in stopping the tancredo/bay buchanan uber smear machine(teamamerica) dead in it's tracks, such as with the endorsement of good conservative James Sensenbrenner of Chris Cannon.

Or any other means you can invent.

LOL! Now the tancredo/bay buchanan/minuteman/alan keyes/connie hair soiree is definately over.

What is it, 4 or 5 times political loser alan keyes has chimed in.

What was that song dandy Don Merideth used to sing at the end of every Monday Night Football in the 70's.

Oh that's right, "Turn Out the Lights".

Good morning.
"...with your spiteful attacks against good conservatives such as Mike Pence and Chris Cannon."

Not me, dude. I save almost all of my spite for Jihadists, Communists, La Raza flunkies and the running dog lackeys who support them all.

Well, maybe for john kerry & Murtha, too.

Martinez still has time to get with the program, but Cannon and Jimmy Duncan have blown it and deserve defeat by more Conservative challengers.

Cannon did get with the program. Cannon voted for HR4437.

Tell that to your teamamerica tancredo/bay buchanan cronies, who are actively going against good conservatives such as Pence and Cannon.

An objective list of Cannon's record on illegal immigration would include Cannon's last vote on the subject.

Cannon voted for HR4437.

Because if he hadn't voted for it he wouldn't even stand a chance this year. He knows that it will not be decided before the election.

Dr. Keyes may have lost a few races, yes.

But he has an largely unnoticed ability to affect Republican primaries across the country when he decides to do so.

“It’s either black or white for me,” he said. “Is the candidate supporting us or not?”

"And Tony Yapias has decided that Chris Cannon is and John Jacob is not."

Big deal. Chris Cannon would unquestionably vote for the senate bill too.

I surmise he only voted that way to push toward a house-senate conference. Too bad it's all going down the tubes now and "the point man for the guest worker plan" might too if John Jacob has his way.

In Utah, the delegates to the Republican state convention vote on candidates. If any individual, incumbent or not, gets over 60%, there is NO primary.

John Jacob BEAT Chris Cannon at the convention.

Just so all the readers know...

Good morning.
"Tell that to your teamamerica tancredo/bay buchanan cronies..."

I haven't had any cronies in years. I gave them up for FreeRepublic and I have to say I am much happier.

Dane, FRiend, you sound a little stretched this morning. It would probably be a good idea to step away from the keyboard and get some air.
