Ads Expose Chris Cannon's Support for Illegal Alien Amnesties

Campaign Highlights Inconsistencies Between Record and Rhetoric

WASHINGTON, June 14 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Team America PAC has launched a radio campaign in Salt Lake City, Utah. The purpose of the campaign is to make Republican Primary voters aware of Representative Chris Cannon's support for illegal alien amnesties and other benefits for illegal aliens even though he represents his record as having been tough on illegal immigration.

On his website, Congressman Cannon claims he's never supported amnesty for illegal aliens and never will. In fact, Cannon has not only supported nine amnesties for illegal aliens, he's actually co-sponsored six amnesties himself. Cannon claims to be tough on illegal immigration yet he's co-sponsored two bills that would reward illegal aliens with in-state tuition. He's voted multiple times against aiding police officers in the apprehension of illegal aliens. Cannon is currently co-sponsoring a bill that protects illegal aliens from prosecution for social security fraud.

Team America' Chairman, Bay Buchanan commented, "Chris Cannon is one of the most pro amnesty congressman in Washington. It is certainly understandable why he would choose to hide his atrocious record on amnesty from his constituents but that in no way justifies the hypocrisy associated with doing so. Utah voters have a right to know if their congressman is deliberately deceiving them, especially on an issue as critical to the nation as illegal immigration."

Team America PAC launched the ad campaign earlier this week in the Salt Lake City market. The radio spots use humor to expose Cannon's claim of being tough on immigration. Throughout the spot the announcer repeatedly asks, "Chris Cannon tough on immigration?" followed by the announcer's description of Chris Cannon's support for an immigration bill that's completely out of synch with most American's views. Over the top crowd laughter then ensues. The radio spot concludes by asking GOP Primary voters to support Cannon's Primary opponent John Jacob "to begin cleaning up the immigration mess Chris Cannon helped make."

I believe that for the same reason, Santorum was given permission to be *against* the Senate bill.

Interestingly enough, the man he supported for reelection -- Arlen Specter'D -- vote for the amnesty yet Ricky has the nerve to blast his opponent for also supporting it.

Next, Ricky's campaign website has a section in 'Espanol'. I want to know who he is appealing to that will be able to vote for him?

Finally, Ricky's campaign staff criticized a local Republican leader for hosting Bay when she came to Pittsbrugh to speak about illegal mmigration, They complained because the people who attended were encouraged to'apply pressure to Ricky to do the right thing.

It sure doesn't sound to me like he is a committed for of illegal immigration. He just felt the heat and saw the light.

The Wash Compost reported Cher's calling into C-Span, but left out the part of her saying that lou dobbs was one of her best friends.

So Dane, why are you so upset that Cher is donating her time effort & money (25K) for the 'helmet safety' cause for our troops in Iraq,.... Are you also AGAINST this ??

So far as her claiming Lou to be a close friend, seems to me this verifies that many more, no matter their politic's, are getting on his bandwagon for America to secure her borders.

What would you expect from "the Compost", they have their own agenda & seldom 'quote' anyone rich & famous that disagrees with them.

Uh, so, Sonny actually ran for a lower office(mayor of Palm Springs) before becoming a Congressvritter.

All cher did was wear free bob mackie dresses, and spout off her hatred of conservatives, and you all take cher's words as the word of God, while she has never been in real political election herself.

But you all keep on posting. It's hilarious watching you all tancredo zealots defend hollywood liberals.

Chris Cannon is conservative, but he isn't serious about border security. John Jacob is, and we need more conservatives who are serious about border security.

CNN starts "Lou Dobbs Tonight" in 2001. How predictable to most Republicans and more to importantly to most conservatives.

But not apparent to the good Commie Network soldier Lou Dobbs.

BTW, you should have that *um* speech impediment looked at.

"I am relatively undecided on this Cannon thing but your defense of him in the face of massive evidence that he is pro-amnesty has been to repeat "Sensenbrenner has endorsed him" 20 times in a row. So what? Incumbent ongresscritters will have each others back even if they disagree on everything (See: Specter/Santorum). This proves nothing."

Yes, we see that again and again and again...
And I hate to be here 2 years after trying to defend Sensenbrenner for his tepid endorsement of a fellow incumbent, just like I've been defending Santorum because he helped out Specter.

Folks, just ignore endorsements or at least quit treating them as anything more than one person's considered opinion. It as stupid as buying Nikes because Michael Jordan tells you to. Get educated, know the candidates, and make a judgement based on facts.

In this case, Chris Cannon amy be good on other issues, but he is wrong on immigration. and that is the most critical issue we face, where even a Republican majority can produce an abomination of a bill. It's time to send a message to Washington loud and clear before the DC Congressional circus does the wrong thing.

No to amnesty, no to the AgJobs bill, no to the Senate CIRA bill, and no to the Congress-critters who support it.

Why do the moderators allow Dane to destroy any reasonable discussion on any thread dealinig with illegal aliens? He hijacks every illegal alien thread and posts his obsessive rants against Tancredo and then expands his rants to include anyone against illegal immigrants.

"Cannon says he voted for the law only after he was promised it would be watered down in conference committee. "

Another gem from your article. Cannon only voted for HR4437 so he could later vote against it.
