Still crazy after all these years...(and not in a good Paul Simon way, either).

By the end of the article I have expected old Jacques to tell us Dan's fly was open and he had snot on his jacket.

I read the thread entries before the article and didn't understand the "Go, Heat" references, but now I do. My respect for Mark Cuban took a 50% hit.

And Neoliberalnot, you are totally correct. Rather tried and fought for a legacy of bringing down a sitting President; he failed and hence is A Failure. His criminal acts should put him behind bars but at least his legacy is "Fake, but Accurate" which I will pay to have put on his grave stone.

If you had an ounce of dignity and class, Dan, you would slink away, retire, and attempt to enjoy the rest of your years. But you won't, because you're a liberal and you have zero class and zero dignity and crave to be in the limelight, full of self-importance.

Not with a bang; but a whimper. . .

I could almost...feel sorry for him; and in a way do. . .inasmuch as he still does not 'get it' and never will.

(Of course, for Libs; his crime was not 'manufacturing' News; they do that every day. . .it was his determined clumsiness when mishandling the truth which made CBS look bad. . ..)

. ..and that IS a crime one pays for. . .

Mr. Rather also said that in April, in anticipation of what seemed to be his imminent departure from CBS, he had formed a company — he named it News and Guts

Nuts and Gas would be a much more applicable name.

Among the places he had sought solace, he said on a recent afternoon, was in "Good Night, and Good Luck," George Clooney's homage to Edward R. Murrow and the CBS News of old, a film that Mr. Rather said he had seen five times in theaters, most recently alone.

Downright freakish.

Rather is weird. I don't know what it is about him but he's a very peculiar person. How many news anchors do you know babble limericks and analogies all the time? Or end their newscasts with a single word? The guy clearly is missing a few parts upstairs.

Hey Dan... don't go away mad... just go away (paraphrased from the Eastwood flick "Heartbreak Ridge" - Stich Jones to Webster).

Rather and Mapes got caught by FR and the blogs before the show was even off the air.

This caused embarassment to the CBS FRAUDcasting network excutives who thought they had better schooled propagandists.

If they had gotten away with it sufficiently long enough to swing the elections away from the Republican victory it was, the executives would have promoted them instead of getting rid of them. They are simply hoping that the FRAUDcasters who remain in the organization are better at distributing the anti-Republican propaganda. They are not attempting to purge the network of the propaganda in favor of unbiased news, just to make the liberal propaganda more effective.

Asked if the network had sought to marginalize him over his role in the disputed Guard report — including his spirited defense of the segment, for more than a week after it was broadcast — Mr. Rather said, "There's a lot I have yet to figure out."

Translation: "My lawyers just haven't figured out yet how I can sue."

Dan should call Walter Cronkite and Connie Chung, and ask how much sympathy they have for him...

What's the big deal? He's 74 -- at least 9 years past most people's retirement age. Even if I liked the guy, what's the big deal about him being let go? Doesn't he have any grandchildren he should be pampering?
