Democrats Call for a New Direction for America (06|16|2006)

"Our new direction will advance a common agenda, seek common ground, and apply common sense in the service of the common good. We know that with a new direction, we can meet our national challenges in a way that makes our nation stronger, our economy more vibrant, and our families more secure. Instead of record deficits, we will go in this new direction in a fiscally sound way. We will make America more competitive and not heap mountains of debt on future generations."

From: Democrats Call for a New Direction for America - Press Release

Democrats are ready with a New Direction, with policies to address the real challenges Americans face every day. It will make health care more affordable; lower gas prices and achieve energy independence; help working families; cut college costs; ensure a dignified retirement, and make our government fiscally responsible again.

New Direction - isn't that what one lemming said to the other lemming?

Democrats Call for a New Direction for America

I've noticed you want a new direction. The wrong one.

"Our new direction will advance a common agenda..."

Whose? not mine, that's for damn sure.

"...seek common ground..."

BWAAAHAAAHAAHAAAA! Seek common ground? WHO are you freakin' kidding?

"...and apply common sense..."

You've GOT to be kidding. Democrats don't have the sense God gave a turnip. Withdraw from the battle and simply let the enemies who want to kill us win? Who the hell are you kidding?

"...in the service of the common good. We know that with a new direction, we can meet our national challenges in a way that makes our nation stronger..."

>snark< Yeah, let's start by pulling out of Iraq... I want summa what you been smokin'...

"...our economy more vibrant..."

Like when the media puffed up the economy on nothing more substantial than good feelings under Clinton and created the inevitable recession that followed...

"...and our families more secure."

By taking away any possible means for their self-defense. Oh, and by bowing down and kissing the feet of the terrorists who want to murder our American families.

"Instead of record deficits, we will go in this new direction in a fiscally sound way."

Translation: we'll make at least a modest effort not to outspend the shop-happy Republicans, but we'll probably fail, since we do, of course, want to raise your taxes as much as we can get away with.

"We will make America more competitive..."

For the favor of America-hating socialists and Islamists

"...and not heap mountains of debt on future generations."

...since when you're done, the US government will simply file bankruptcy. Surely that will get our grandkids off the hook?

Nothing to get excited about. The Republicans may no longer be for small government but at least they stand for something. The Democrats can't even decide where they are on the War!

"Our new direction will advance a common agenda, seek common ground, and apply common sense in the service of the common good."

If they are going to "apply common sense" don't they need to "seek common ground" BEFORE they "advance a common agenda"?

Yet they put "advance" before "seek".

This is just another stinker brain fart from the flatulent Left.

Too bad the election will be all about The War On Terror, The War In Iraq, and Immigration. The Dems could actually come out ahead if they ran to the right of the Pubs on those issues.

Sounds like this press release was written by a teenager. Is this the best they can do?

To be fair, most of their regular press release writers have been captured or killed in Iraq this past week.

It's a floor wax and a desert topping.

This isn't a new direction it's political Christmas list. The rats would be more believable if they just said they'll grant every rat voter three magical wishes.

At least classic socialist art showed happy people walking confidently towards an idyllic future.

You know your party is in trouble when it can be truthfully said: "Your message lacks the whimsical optimism of a Joseph Stalin."

Who in the heck is writing these talking points? Stalin?

Stalin just failed to get his message out.

Their new direction is merely an acceleration of the speed of the present direction into Socialism and into the "New World Order". Although I don't really know how they can give away our Independance much faster than the present administration.

Why don't they just scream. . .'taxes up'. . .

As for the mountains of debt; Bush has raised the ante; but he has had to pay as well, for unprecedented challenges; (eight years of Clinton Administration changed the world. . .); challenges that beset our country and the world-at-large. . .

. ..the economic side of the disaster 9/11. . nurturing, placating/subsidizing/spoiling. . .gifting a sick patient to get back on their feet. . .

. . .add to that the cost required for our security as we deal with our homeland WOT. . .and of course, the monies required to subsidize our War in Iraq. . .(what would a Demrat do differently here. . .do we dare to contemplate?)

Bush's time in office has been unprecedented when it comes to the external challenges our country has had to facedemands on our public coffers to cover the enormous expenses of disasters of the 'first time/worst kind' around the world and here at home. . .and the ever-expanding expectations that lie behind it as well. . .(they wanted it yesterday. . ./and they need/want more).

It is inconvenient for the Dems to remember this; as they whine about the money. ..a fake cry for sure, from the Party who would take more from Amerians so as to enrich their own pockets.

(Bush knows as well that lower taxes is the moral MO and ultimate stimulus to economic growth vs the immoral money grab. . .'take it all' inclinations of the 'other Party'.)

At least by the efforts of President Bush - imperfect politcs notwithstanding. . .the intent is to protect America and to drive and keep America on a positive upswing. . .as opposed to the Dems; whose goal is precisely the opposite.

The ChiCom government has a better-sounding direction than the Dems, and I think the ChiComs appreciate capitalism more than the Dems, too.

Reminds me of "John Kerry, reporting for duty!" :-)

If you think health care is expensive now, just wait until it's "Free"- PJ O'Rourke

No one is fond of taking responsibility for his actions, but consider how much you have to hate free will to come up with a political platform that advocates killing unborn babies but not convicted murderers. - PJ O'Rourke

Murtha has described the new direction as REVERSING COURSE.

Back to taxes taxes and more taxes.

Free health care and free college for all. Cut off funding for Iraq, and oh yes, punish the oil companies.

Can someone (I don't know how) cut a commercial of Pelosi's "Common" speech and at the end put Hillary's "We are going to take your money for the common good."

I think that would destroy the Democrat party.

Don't you just love it every time they forge a new direction?

Then comes the real hard part "HOW", for them the devil is always in the details, Amen.

"Our new direction will advance a common agenda, seek common ground, and apply common sense in the service of the common good. "

And therein lies the road to disaster. Every American's situation is subjective to their personal circumstances. There is no "cookie cutter" solution on "common ground" that solves everyone's problem. At best you relive people who's personal circumstances match those assessed for a given program by the government, which is at best, blind. Those who do not fall into the particular solution's criteria are left in hell fending for themselves, while being compelled by the Democrat's conficatory tax policies to subsidize the flames they are burning in.
