Comedienne Sandra Bernhard appeared on the show and, amidst a discussion about Laura Bush, characterized the First Lady, with her typical acidity as "heavily medicated." Co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck, a vocally ardent Republican, took acute exception and tried to defend Mrs. Bush's work on childhood education, whereupon Bernhard called Hasselbeck "honey" – and then the sparks really flew.
It was all a bit too much for Joy Behar to bear, apparently.

I've heard too many comments from the left about Laura being 'medicated'. They seem to think a calm, beautiful woman is strange.
Probably because they are used to looking at Pelosi, Hillary, Estrich and all the other screaming liberal women!

That was a REALLY dumb thing to do minus the overwhelming majority of America that loves this woman (myself included), but HAVING a clue such as that....unbelievably dumb!

If ever there was a prime recipient for that old retort, "I may be ..[blank - fill in the insult] ... but you're ugly," it's Sandra Bernhard.
She hasn't been funny in so long that I don't see what in the world she is still doing on TV anywhere for any reason. She has no socially redeeming qualities and it hurts my eyes to have to look at her.

Laura Bush is a very beautiful and strong woman. The President is lucky to have her.

So many people in Hollywood live in a completely isolated subculture that chooses to define itself in terms of its opposition to all things Conservative and Republican. They just get furious whenever they find out that there are people willing to stand up to them. Sandra Bernhard must be asking herself "doesn't Elizabeth Hasselbeck get it? No one is supposed to call us down when we bash Republicans. This is part of being a celebrity!"
Maybe today Sandra Bernhard will start to get it.
And oh by the way, how low has the left sunk when it starts to reach for Barbara Bush as its next target?
