Ann Coulter may have perfected the art of flogging liberalsand 9-11 widowsto flog her books.
But it looks like she's been getting a little help in the sales department.
Her new screed, Godless: The Church of Liberalism, is now reportedly the fastest selling non-fiction book in the country, with 48,408 copies sold in its debut week, according to the latest Nielson Bookscan figures.
No doubt a lot of that reflects the shitstorm of controversy she's kicked up by attacking those widows who dared challenge the official explanations for 9-11 as "harpies" who are somehow "enjoying their husbands' deaths."
But the marketing of this book by Random House's new conservative imprint, Crown Forum, appears to reflect the same sales-hyping tactics as Coulter's previous publisher Regnery, the right wing book mill that pioneered the art of using bulk buys from conservative and religious groups to plump out sales figures.
Though Godless retails for $27.95, you can get a FREE! copy if you subscribe to Human Events, the conservative weekly that publishes Coulter's weekly rants.
Human Events is a subsidiary of Eagle Publishing, which also owns Regnery (which put out Coulter's "bestselling" 2002 tirade to impeach Bill Clinton).
The Conservative Book Club is also offering free copies of Godless if you agree to buy two more of their "regularly discounted" titles over the next year.
And NewsMax is pitching a $4.99 Godless, if you sign up for a trial subscription to their monthly NewsMax Magazine (or you can get the book free if you pay for a yearly sub).
All of which puts a new spin on Coulter's accusations of media whoring.
In Godless, Coulter accuses the 9-11 widowsor "Witches of East Brunswick," as she calls themof pimping their husbands' deaths for media attention and political gain:
"These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by grief-arazzis. I've never seen people enjoying their husbands' death so much."
"These self-obsessed women seemed genuinely unaware that 9-11 was an attack on our nation and acted as if the terrorist attacks happened only to them. The whole nation was wounded, all our lives reduced. But they believed the entire country was required to marinate in their exquisite personal agony."
"And by the way, how do we know their husbands weren't planning to divorce these harpies? Now that their shelf life is dwindling, they'd better hurry up and appear in Playboy."
Yet Coulter doesn't seem to mind pimping herself to sell books. The cover of Godless features her in a neck-plunging, skin-tight dress, with a small cross dangling above her ample cleavage.
It's quite a pose for a book that goes on about how "godless" liberals are.
Meanwhile, in a column published Wednesday [entitled "Party of Rapist Proud to Be Godless"] Coulter has the gall to go after all those critics who've been whooped up into helping her sell her book: "I'm getting a little fed up with people trying to make money off my book," Coulter complains. "Worthless little cable TV shows with teeny-tiny audiences, ridiculous legislators, and tabloid newspapers are all trying to make a name for themselves off the profundity of Godless."
Oops, maybe that's us.
But didn't the Bible say something about pride....?
Now that would be a heck of a good project. Beer too.
Ever notice how these folks can't express a thought without interjecting profanity. Almost as if they have no God.
Ann would say Sarah is a little naive to confuse standard marketing with payola.
"the art of flogging liberalsand 9-11 widows"
No. LIBERAL ACTIVIST 9-11 widows.
It is a gift, baby...
I think she should plump her figure a bit.
Where?
I bought it from Amazon.com for $21 and that included shipping. Wal-Mart has it for under $20 (A fact I didn't know until after I ordered from Amazon)
To an ugly Democrat Feminazi, it is far too racy!
Good evening, Mr. Pukin'. Your mission, should you choose to accept it ...
This tape will self destruct in five seconds.
Like, "$1.6 million isn't enough payment for 9/11 vicims' families."
Now THAT is a great picture!
It was profoundly weird to see her in the same outfit both when I went to bed last night AND while eating my raisin bran this morning.
Well weird wouldn't be the word I would use. And I would feed Ann something more than raisin bran anyway.
I saw your comments on another thread recently and I think you were plotting to marry her or at least have your way with her.
What's the plan? Fatten her up first?
Actually Ann was at the Freeper Rally in DC October 1998 and she has "ample cleavage" as you so put it. She is thin, but she is very buxom. She has a figure that defies the laws of physics. She is beautiful, and so feminine, and she charmed the hats off a lot of the Freeper guys at the Rally. She wanted a FreeRepublic hat and she got one! All she had to do was smile and ask for one. She was totally charming. She is very beautiful in person. Some people are just thin. My daughter looks a lot like Ann, thin, totally blonde, and buxom.
Hey man, that was just rhetoric. Ann would have to do something special if she expects me to share my Chunky Monkey. You dig?
True -- Feminazis hate themselves first and foremost so and intelligent, pretty woman is seen as a danger to them.
There is nothing uglier in the world than a "Code Pinko" rally.
My fourteen year old son came back from Barnes and Noble last night with How to Talk to a Liberal. He said he finally found a book he was interested in. I was mildly amused.
And yeah there's no such thing as bad publicity.
Liberals telling themselves things like this ("she's not REALLY selling all those books...") is the equivalent of them rocking themselves to sleep for comfort. Someone get them binkies! They need comfort.
I think it "helps" that she smokes. When I quit, I picked up 30 quick pounds. But I will take the trade off, since I can work on my weight while I breathe clearly.
