HOW W GOT HIS MOJO BACK; BEHIND BUSH'S GREAT WEEK
The NY Post ^ | 6/15/06 | Clark S. Judge

June 15, 2006 -- WHO'D have thought it possible even a month ago? President Bush is getting his mojo back.

The president just had the best week of his second term, perhaps of his entire presidency - and the end of the investigation of Karl Rove, which would have been the headline grabber not long ago, had little to do with it.

Instead, the president's brilliantly conceived and executed trip to Baghdad - giving exactly the right boost at the right time to new Iraqi prime minister Nouri al-Maliki - capped off seven days that included the forming of a full Iraqi Cabinet and the success of the U.S. military in locating, bombing and killing Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the sadistic Jordanian-born insurgency leader that Osama bin Laden once called the "prince of Iraq."

Equally significant, the night Zarqawi died, American forces staged 17 raids on insurgent targets. By Monday, they had launched 140 more. On the day of the president's visit, 75,000 troops fanned out over Baghdad, ordered to clear the Iraqi capital of the violence and anarchy that has plagued it for months.

Oh man. I gots to find that image...not this sh&t again...

The first few years we all believed Bush didn't get it about illegal immigration. Well we know he's got it. The question is what can we do about it. The Congress killing the current set of bills on it might have been the beginning of (us) using the laws already established on the books regarding citizenship.

A great week for the Iraqis who were terrorized by Zarqarwi, a great week for our awesome military who bombed him, a great boost to the morale of our troops and to me when the President visited the Iraqi PM and spoke to our troops.

Karl Rove, despite the slobbering vultures anticipation, was not indicted..Papers found in some "safe house" indicated Al Queda feeling demoralized!

HOO RAY FOR THE GOOD NEWS!!

It was a somewhat confusing post, which is why I asked for an explanation, my FRiend. Thanks for confirming my intuitive refutation of the possibility. Now everyone else knows that you didn't mean me. :-)

Hello, dear, dear friend.... can't tell you how much I've missed you!

I'm sorry I disappeared for so long, life has been crazy busy and overwhelming lately. Came back to peek at Free Republic with Zarqawi's death, it's a big event for our family as he took direct credit for killing my cousin, Michael :-(

Don't know how much time I have to hang out here again but I'll try not to pull a complete Casper again.... It's a crying shame how different the FR is now, though. What the heck happened???

Pointed barbs are not "dishonoring" anybody. They're actually very funny, in their context used here, except to those who have no sense of humor (and that would be, oh, 84 out of every 100 Freepers, unless the subject is pit bulls, and then it's 98 out of a hundred).

Speaking of my courageous, law-abiding progenitors--just some of the millions who did it the right way--really does not bear honest comparison to the pot-shotting that goes on here on a thread.

If you don't get that.....

Never mind, it's clear that you don't.

In the interest of clarification...what the heck are you talking about? What deleted post?

"You are without class."

This has nothing to do with compassion and everything to do with being honest and not breaking the law.

What would Jesus do? Well, God's Word is very clear as to that answer and what Christians should do. According to Romans chapter 13 we are to OBEY the laws of the land and submit to governmental authorities. Seeing that Jesus will one day rule the earth with a “rod of iron” I hardly think he is going to put up with lawlessness of any kind.

People entering the country illegally; stealing or falsifying identification in order to get work or working under the table are ALL breaking the law. Were you or I to do what they are doing in another country, we would be arrested immediately and deported or incarcerated because we would be criminals. As for Revelation 7:9-10, you are sorely mistaken in your misapplication of the text. Having taught the book on the graduate and undergraduate level I can assure you that the multitude of believers from every nation, tribe and tongue who will be saved during the period of the tribulation as a direct result of the 144, 000 Jewish witnesses has absolutely nothing to do with foreign nationals entering the United States illegally and committing fraud or worse in order to live and work here. The first rule I teach my students in Hermeneutics is “context” and the context of Revelation 7 in now way shape or form supports your premise.

Lastly, this has nothing to do with legalism and everything to do with obeying the laws of the land and prosecuting to the fullest extent of the God given law, those who willfully have chosen to break it by entering the country illegally.

Johnny, do you have anything to say about the Zarc wack and Iraq or not? If not, then you're lost. Tell me where you're trying to go and I'll help you get there.

I'm just so tired of the immigration thread-jackers.

I have lots of reasons to be single-minded on the subject, myself. I live in AZ, and my wife had a relative murdered by the filthy Mexicans that are allowed to scatter like cockroaches after they spread their disease. I'm just so GD sick and tired of having to deal with it every time I click on a thread.

It's just me.

It should be obvious that things have changed in Iraq. First it struck me when the story said 70,000 forces were going to take control of the streets in Baghdad. That has to mean there are lots of trained Iraqi forces ready to take down lots of insurgents.

Look what happened in Nam.. we had a half million men their but we could not possibly police the country. We might control city during the day time but the Vietcong were there to take control at night. The people may have wanted to be on our side, but they dared not do so.

In NAM the forces of the United States took control. That was a mistake. Our forces in Nam fought instead of getting the Vietnamese to fight their own war.

Here we have done the opposite. We have spent a ton of time and effort training Iraqi forces. Think about it. With tens of thousands of Iraqi forces in charge of the city, the local population will get the idea that THEIR government is in charge. Lots of them in not too long a time will come out of the closet to join with THEIR government in ending the reign of terror.

This taking charge of the streets was done immediately after taking down Zarqawi. We got the leader that many of his followers were certain was being protected by Allah. Then the Iraqi government puts thousands of forces on the streets to take control. That is a huge statement to the Iraqi people.

Then the president of the worlds only super power comes to visit their prime minister. What does that do to the image of the prime minister? What does that say to the rest of the Muslim world?

One other thing I am sure of.. The Iraqi forces are not PC. They are not going to abide by the United States Media Rules of be kind to terrorists. It is not good to be a terrorist today.

The problem in creating a military and law enforcement agencies in nations like Iraq is not producing Privates, Sargent's or even low ranking officers. It is not producing cops to to work on the streets. It is the problem of producing officers to command large numbers of forces and run large police departments. That takes lots of time. It only takes weeks to make a private in an army.

It takes years to train top management in any field. A lot of it is on the job training. We are near the point of having Iraqi leadership trained and in place. It was a very difficult job because of their culture. But it is getting done.

I look for things to really chance in Iraq. It think the senate vote on recalling our troops is an indicator of that belief in the senate.

The media and most Democrats have expected things to go down hill.. much like Nam.

I would remind you the Nixon goal in Nam was "Peace With Honor". The Bush goal is "Total Victory."

That is a huge difference. The goal in Korea was containment. The goal in WWII was total victory. Goals make a huge difference.

There is no way to win if the wrong goal is set. With the right goal and determination victory is assured.

The times ... they are a changing in Iraq... and for the better.

That should be chiseled into stone some place where everybody in Congress should have to read it over and over...
