Chinese military plane crashes in Fujian: reports

(Kyodo) _ A Chinese fighter jet crashed in southern Fujian Province on Monday, killing at least one person, a second crash of a Chinese military plane this month, local media reported Wednesday.

The Apple Daily said a Jian-7E fighter aircraft crashed near a copper and aluminum molding factory along the highway near Fuzhou, the capital city of the province.

No one at the factory was injured as most of workers were out for lunch at that time, but a passerby on a motorcycle was killed in the explosion triggered by the crash.

The pilot parachuted to safety, the newspaper reported.

The South China Morning Post reported that a local police officer confirmed the accident, while villagers were quoted as saying that the police and military sealed off the site.

An official from the Fuzhou city government said the city government has not heard of the incident.

On June 3, a military aircraft crashed in eastern China's Anhui Province, killing all 40 crew members on board.

Just north, the Hazara people — a rival tribe to the ethnic Pashtuns, from which the Taliban draws its fighters — will provide a "tribal backstop" for the coalition, he said.

That was an AWACS that the Chinese were trying to develop - the crash was a HUGE blow to this program.

Every time I hear of something like this, I think "assassination".

Best way to get rid of unreliable officers is to make them have accidents while in the air.

Is it just me, or have the Chinese been seriously compromised ever since they decided to mess with Jack Bauer? :)

"a Jian-7E fighter aircraft crashed near a copper and aluminum molding factory along the highway near Fuzhou"

Coming soon to a Walmart near you!

So in about a month or so, you can own a part of the downed aircraft, as they will probably just scrape up whats left and recycle it...

Looks like a cutting-edge design...

Or like a lawn dart, depending upon how much wine one has consumed.

...crashed near a copper and aluminum molding factory...

Communist planes don't crash, they just get recycled. This was just an unscheduled material delivery.

WTF? Fuzhou is in northeastern Fujian, not in the south.
