I can't imagine why, given the pathetic HEALTH CARE program they offer.

Wal-Mart is a bad corporate citizen Yeah, they don't even offer health care benefits to part-time workers. What a sweat shop. No wonder they only got 8,000 applicants to fill 350 jobs.

Wal-mart must have rustled a lot of people out of bed at gunpoint and forced them to fill out applications.

Armed Walmart executives were on hand to force the prisoners to fill out zee papers. Whips and chains had to be used on a few resistors.

Mr. Restivo said that several hundred of the applications came from New York City residents, and 23 New Yorkers were hired. He said those workers will commute each day to New Jersey from as far away as the Bronx, and that the average wage for employees will be about $10.50 an hour. A developer recently canceled an agreement with Wal-Mart for a site in New York City under pressure from unions and elected officials, so now New Jersey gets the development and the jobs -- and even hires a number of New Yorkers to fill those jobs. I'm guessing that at least 25% of the people who shop at this Wal-Mart will be New Yorkers, too.
In case anyone out there is wondering how a corrupt sh!t-hole like New Jersey can remain viable, it's important to remember that being located across the river from two of the most fouled-up places in North America (New York City and Philadelphia) sure helps.

WalMart Ping.
Didn't take long for the bashers to show up on this thread.........
Let me know if you want on/off this WalMart ping list. It is not a WM bashers list, it is a list for discussions, good/bad/indifferent regarding WM and other retail related issues.

part of its strategy to ring the city with stores
Sounds like a battle strategy. Acutally I took a retirement job for a short time in California. I have my own health care, don't need to work etc. and just wanted to get out of the house part time. I worked as a customer service rep. ushering people to the correct isles to find things. My first day on the job at this super center I walked 28 miles and needed help leaving the store I was so exhausted. It's almost 1/2 mile end to end in this one supercenter.
Thank god for the healthy customers who have since carried me to the various isles as I direct them. I also cheat sometimes and take over the electric carts of customers who I convince are breaking laws by using them unnecessarily. Naturally I offer to show them the isles as I return the cart to the front of the store.
