A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Sunsets and Sunrises.. ah, they produce sighs and amazed responses from us, paintings, poetry & songs from the artists of the world and are a photobugs glorious hog heaven !
Enjoy the pictures & share yours. I had about 75 in my stash & just am sharing a couple here. Also share your sunrise/sunset moments of joy or sadness
A melody & words from the musical Fiddler on the Roof - Teyves soulful offering.
Is this the little girl I carried? Is this the little boy at play? I dont remember growing older, When did they?
When did she get to be a beauty? When did he grow to be so tall? Want it yesterday when they were small?
Sunrise sunset, sunrise, sunset, Swiftly flow the days, Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers, Blossoming even as they gaze . . .
Sunrise sunset, sunrise, sunset! Swiftly fly the years, One season following another, Laden with happiness and tears . . .
One season following another, Laden with happiness and tears . . .
( sunrise, sunset, sunrise, sunset . . . )
Sunrise/Sunset(thanks Victoria!)
We could not have sunsets or sunrise glory without the sun. It is the most prominent feature in our solar system. It is the largest object and contains approximately 98% of the total solar system mass. One hundred and nine Earths would be required to fit across the Sun's disk, and its interior could hold over 1.3 million Earths. The Sun's outer visible layer is called the photosphere and has a temperature of 6,000°C (11,000°F). This layer has a mottled appearance due to the turbulent eruptions of energy at the surface.

Nothing like an F-15 to give you that warm and fuzzy feeling.

Works for me! ;o)
I love military aircraft. I just wish we lived close to an airbase so I could see them flying on a regular basis. I love the sound of the jet engines roaring overhead! *sigh*

Found this in one of my old cruise books, circa 1967.
A sunset from somewhere in the Western Pacific, most likely Subic Bay, PI, with the text by Commander Hershberger, our Ship's Chaplain...

Your # 54 is Forever Awesome!

I love it too. Did this in honor of my Air Force son. (though he is not a pilot)
HIGH FLIGHT
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds--and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of--wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air. Up, up the long delirious, burning blue, I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace Where never lark, or even eagle flew- And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod The high untresspassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.
~~~~Pilot Officer Gillespie Magee~~~~ Killed 11 December 1941
GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!!! GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!
An absolutely lovely thread today Dolly. The presentation is BEAUTIFUL! And love the way you incorporated Fiddler's Sunrise/Sunset into the thread. And thanks everyone for posting such beautiful pictures. Am searching for some from my folks Michigan cottage. Hope to be back later!
