Chairman of the Democrat National Committee Howard Dean is supporting Charles Merrill and his same-sex partner Kevin Boyle in their civil disobedience against paying Federal Income Tax because they cannot have the same tax benefits as heterosexual married couples.
But unless the two gay activists mention Dean's support and remarks in their statements and press releases, the mainstream news media aren't interested in letting Americans know about the Democrat leadership's position on the issue of gay and lesbian marriage.
According to the two gay activists, the momentum for the same-sex marriage tax protest started with a page six article in the New York Post and in an article on the Internet news organization WorldNetDaily.com in February 2006.
The articles covered how Merrill and his partner protested an anti-gay marriage amendment sponsored by President Bush.
Merrill said in a released statement, "As a result of nationwide publicity, we have had e-mails from hundreds of gay men and women from all over the country wanting to join us and asking how they could be a part of the gay tax protest."
Boyle added, "We gays will gladly pay our taxes once the government stops discriminating against us and passes laws that allows us to marry the person[sic] we love. We deserve the same Federal and State benefits as other married citizens."
Discrimination in the tax code also caught the attention of Howard Dean, chairman of the National Democratic Party. In a recent speech on June 3, 2006 to the gay political group National Stonewall Democrats' conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dean mentioned the outrage of gays and lesbians who are denied the benefits of marriage.
He is quoted as saying, "It is wrong for our tax code to be discriminatory. And it is wrong for any group of Americans to live in fear of hate crimes. We (Democrat Party) believe that every taxpayer should have the same government services and benefits as any other American."
Dean also said, "The fight continues, and the Democrat Party is standing with you by leading the fight against discrimination, and by helping you meet your electoral objectives this fall... ."
Then in true Howard Dean style of demonizing political opponents with unbridled hyperbole, he said, "We live in a time when this community and your families are the targets of meanspirited attacks by Republicans who put their own and their party's interests ahead of the national interest, when the President of the United States just this morning used his weekly radio address to endorse a Constitutional amendment that would introduce legalized discrimination in our Constitution. The Democrats will oppose that."
Strong stuff, but there was no mention of these statements by the elite media who instead focused on the conservatives' objections to gay marriage. Why are the majority of the members elite news media avoiding the reporting of Dean's -- or other Democrat leaders' -- comments. The media template is: Democrats are moderates; Republicans are extremists.
Here's another of Dean's statements in which he attempts to use scripture to make his point:
"While it is true that the Bible (largely the Old Testament) condemns homosexuality in a few places, it equally condemns eating shellfish. Jesus never mentions homosexuality. The bottom line is this: America is grappling with the discarding of old stereotypes about a group of people who have been part of our country since America has been a country. This is a painful process."
Dean rivals Senator Hillary Clinton in his use of the Bible to pull the wool over the eyes of the unwashed. And the news media helps him along.
Scheesh, rooting for the IRS and government thieves because one opposes so called "gay marriage" is goofy on a conservative site.
Wow - a Dem in favor of not paying taxes? That's the real story here.
On the other hand, as much as I hate the IRS, I wouldn't be the one to advocate a widespread tax revolt.
For that matter, will Dean pay the legal bills of any person who refuses to pay his or her taxes because of his support of this tax revolt?
TS
Ok, then here's the deal. As a conservative, if there were such laws, you should oppose them and work for their repeal as hard as possible. Such laws are inconsistent with a free society.
Yes. That is indeed something.
The Federales would crumble, Dean would be arrested by the provisional government and executed.
May this jackass lead the rat forever!

The bizarre leading the bizarre... Activist leftist judges are growing giddy over the possibilities...
Meanwhile, everyone pays for this unnecessary burden upon society in general and our court systems specifically...
There is one way to quickly put the whining leftist babies to bed and end the delusional homosexual odyssey everyone is being dragged on once and for all -the Federal Marriage Amendment!
Point WELL taken!
Who would think, a mere decade ago, that we would be hearing something as goofy as a homosexual "marriage" proposal by anyone but a group of disease-infested, cockroaches like the homosexual gaggle?
But how to get the employers from opting out of "withholding?"
By asking them to, via form W-4. Not saying the giverment will tolerate this for long, but the employer has to follow the employees' directions regarding withholding.
No there isn't. Compare married filing jointly with married filing separately. There's a difference, often quite significant. That's the "benefit" the gays are talking about.
Oops. I should have said: compare married filing jointly with 2 singles filing separately.
As I said, with 'two income earners'. The only way married filing jointly comes out ahead, is if all or the vast majority of the income is earned by one person. Two income earners filing as individuals comes out ahead of married filing jointly when all the personal exemptions are taken into account. That was definitely the case a few years back, and I don't think Bush's tax cut fixed that problem.
Howard is 100% correct. He just doesn't know it.
It is wrong for people to discriminated against because they work harder and are more productive (the hated "rich")....and it is wrong for that same group to live in fear of hate crimes (encouraged by the DIMocratic party)
It's goofy all right. But not as goofy as so called conservatives adopting the same tactics as the fascists and commies and other assorted authoritarian thugs.
Married filing jointly:
$60,000 - $6400 in personal exemptions - $10,000 in standard deduction = $43,600 in taxable income = $5814 owed in tax.
Filing as singles:
$30,000 - $3100 in personal exemption - $5000 in standard deduction = $21,800 in taxable income = $2909 owed in taxes.
Multiply that by 2 and you get $5818 which is identical exept for table round off error. It used to work out that the two single people owed over $1000 less in taxes. So that issue has been corrected.
So Howard is saying Lance Bass won't have to pay Taxes ???
God, I hate Lewis Black.
We saw him at the Laff Stop in Houston a few years ago, and got to sit front and center. He was so unfunny that I was sitting with my arms crossed, completely stone-faced, and he started to heckle ME. My hand to God.
(I will admit to exacerbating the situation by having previously booed at the top of my ample lung capacity when he bad-mouthed Bush.)
