The office workers that wasted people's time and money by calling about this as well as this animal rights "officer" are mentally ill. IMO.

So this guy is out of a job, and could soon be a *convicted felon* because he tried to shoo away an attacking animal?

Insanity.

"...why don't they arrest the other two gulls for attacking this guy first or do birds and animals that attack get a free ride?"

They were probably illegal alien sea gulls and had sanctuary!

Seems to be happening more and more. I sometimes think that living in cities is not healthy.

This was the story by the Boston Herald June 10th..broom handle?

Dead sea gull a pain for window washer: Man busted in alleged aerial attack
Saturday, June 10, 2006 - Updated: 10:10 AM EST

http://news.bostonherald.com/localRegional/view.bg?articleid=142960

A 40-year-old high-rise window washer sat in a downtown lockup last night on felony animal cruelty charges after an MSPCA cop arrested him for defending himself against an attacking sea gull, police and the man’s wife said.

“It’s ridiculous,” said the man’s wife, Lin Maloney, inside the South End home she shares with her husband, 13 finches, two parakeets, two dogs, and three cats. “He doesn’t have a violent bone in his body. He’s not cruel to animals.”

Christopher Guay was on the roof of 161 Devonshire St. yesterday about 3:30 p.m. when several office workers in neighboring building saw a man in white overalls and a harness striking the gull with a black bar or stick, presumably a squeegee. A responding officer walked to the roof of the building and saw the bird lying motionless, noting in his report, “the carcass was still warm.”

“The suspect stated he was on the roof when the gull started attacking him, forcing him to strike the bird,” Boston police spokesman Dave Estrada said.

A Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals cop who also responded to the call didn’t buy Guay’s story.

Maloney said Guay called her at work from jail, and since then she’s run a dizzying gauntlet of banks and bureaucracy to raise the $1,040 the police are demanding to free him.

“I’ve never bailed anyone out of jail before,” she said. “When I called the bail bondsman he said ‘What’s he in jail for,’ I said ‘For beating a sea gull,’ and he started laughing. He said ‘This is a joke right?’ ”

Peter Gollub, director of law enforcement for the MSPCA, refused comment about the dead bird except to say the agency had arrested a man for animal cruelty.

After spending the evening talking to a bail bondsman and racing from ATMs to check-cashing stores, late last night Maloney was forced to abandon her attempt to free her husband before sunrise.

“I’m still shell shocked,” said Maloney, who works for a visiting nursing company in Charlestown. “I was in tears. I was horrified. This is like something out of a movie. The guy is harmless. He’s a sweetheart. I’ve been with him for 17 years. He’s not someone who would viciously attack an animal.”

The Howie Carr show ran this question today: "Do you have the right to defend yourself against attacking wildlife? Had any close encounters lately?

MSPCA officer is a petty turd. Any jury should let himwalk for killing a sky rat.

better Guay should have crashed to the ground 40 floors below than to kill a sea gull

PETA just has to go, and take the MSPCA folks with them

I have always thought the turning police powers over to a grievance group is a bad idea. What's next: turning domestic violence law enforcemnt over to the local lesbian womans center? Turning environmental enforcemnet over to the green party? Turning smoking law enforcement over to the cancer society?

I think it's a bad idea. He should consider suing the MSPCA for everything some smart lawyer can think of.

The gulls were too short to send to prison.

There are hidden contradictions in the minds of people who "love Nature" while deploring the "artificialities" with which "Man has spoiled 'Nature'". The obvious contradiction lies in their choice of words, which imply that Man and his artifacts are not part of "Nature" -- but beavers and their dams are. But the contradictions go deeper than this prima-facie absurdity. In declaring his love for a beaver dam (erected by beavers for beavers' purposes) and his hatred for dams erected by men (for the purposes of men) the "Naturist" reveals his hatred for his own race -- i.e., his own self-hatred.

In the case of "Naturists" such self-hatred is understandable; they are such a sorry lot. But hatred is too strong an emotion to feel toward them; pity and contempt are the most they rate.

As for me, willy-nilly I am a man, not a beaver, and H. sapiens is the only race I have or can have. Fortunately for me, I like being part of a race made up of men and women -- it strikes me as a fine arrangement and perfectly "natural".

Believe it or not, there were "Naturists" who opposed the first flight to old Earth's Moon as being "unnatural" and a "despoiling of Nature".

A sea gull is equivalent to a rodent. This is PC run amok.

If you put a seagull and a brick in an oven, the brick would get done sooner and taste better.

I was also attacked by a sea gull!

Well, sorta..

Scene: Standing before a vendor at the beach trying to decide on the lobster roll or the hot dog.

Action: Walk up to the counter and order the hot dog.
As I walk away, out of nowhere swoops down the biggest sea gull I have ever seen and scoops up the whole dog plus bun out of my hand and nicks my little finger.

This terrorist bird was out of sight in seconds. At least I didn't spend the money for the lobster roll!

Can be "mean and nasty" birds!!!

Sea gulls ought to be out at sea. They are avian rodents.
