DeVos Pulls Away (DeVos 48%; Granholm 40%)
WILX ^ | 6/12/06

Posted on 06/12/2006 6:54:35 PM PDT by LdSentinal

For the first time in modern Michigan political history, a sitting governor is behind her challenger. The latest EPIC-MRA survey commissioned by WILX News 10 shows Republican DeVos with 48 percent and Democratic Incumbent Granholm trails with 40 percent.

In addition, the exclusive poll results show that the number of voters willing to reelect the governor has fallen to 30 percent while the rest of the voters surveyed want somebody else.

In fairness, this survey was completed before the first batch of pro-Granholm commercials hit the air waves and she is expected to pick up some points from that, but it appears that the $6 million that DeVos ha spent on his commercials has paid huge dividends.

Granholm backers argue that the election is still over five months away and a lot can happen in the interim.

Is DeVos a RINO? Is he able to clean up Detroit?

It won't matter. After everyone in Wayne County votes three times, the last ones being "discovered" long after the polls are closed, the Democrats will be back in office.

Wait a minute!

All I've been hearing on TV is that the American people are fed up with Republicans.

They wouldn't lie to me on TV would they?

Hope you get rid of Jenni.

(There's not a font to put a heart instead of a dot over the "i", so you'll just have to imagine it.)

Another "moral victory" for the Liberals?

It is doubtful that the son of the founder of Amway is anything other than rock-solid conservative.

We don't want to clean up Detroit. We're trying to give it to Moose Factory, Ontario, in exchange for a case of Moosehead. (You're invited to share a bottle.)

We also want to give Jenni back to Canada. Or Berkeley. Or the soviet socialist union. Whichever claims it first.

And we want to give Lansing back to the Swedes. If the Swedes don't want it, we're labeling it "Garbage" and sending it to Canada. So should you have any old tires, refrigerators, buck offal, etc., now's the time to clean out your garage.

I can hear DeVos's victory speech already. "This is you....and I....I am your Governor."

Is DeVos a RINO?

I haven't seen any evidence to suggest that.

Is he able to clean up Detroit?

Hey, let's start with something easier, like peace in the middle east, and then work our way up! :)

I guess voters blame the incumbent for the travails of the US auto industry. Governors get a bump when things beyond their control go well, and a dump, when things beyond their control go south. Such is life.

IMHO I don't think she wants to be governor anymore. Really. Michigan has been in recession since 9/11 and I think she has had it. Her campaign started late. She can't attack DeVos, so she goes after President Bush. Stupid move. In Las Vegas today Gettelfinger basically admitted the UAW is toast. In a Detriot News/WXYZ poll union households split 48% DeVos and 40% Granholm. And I don't think Detroit residents care for her too much. Of course they don't like DeVos either. That just means they're not going to vote. And if they don't come to the polls, she is finished.

State and federal elective offices are very different beasts. That is why Pubbies can win for state offices in Massachussets these days, but are at ground zero when it comes to federal offices.

rock-solid conservative

Good to hear. We need as many conservative governors as possible in the pool for potential presidential candidates.
