Murtha has tried to close his deal one time too many. As Haditha becomes clearer, Murtha will be seen for the poltroon he is.

The media, like they do in almost every situation of signifcance now, simply parrots what they are told by people they like who say what they wish to hear. They have done it to this Preisdent, this war, our weather and climate, and now they have destroyed the livesof good soldiers. Frankly the President needs to come out strongly for the troops on this so the message finally strikes home: The democrats hate the troops, they seek to hurt them in the field not only by damaging the mission but by destroying their lives on a personal basis.

These are not drunken frat boys hiring a disturbed 'sex worker' persecuted by a venal corrupt DA. These are real soldiers, real patriots who lay down their lives for all of us. The scum who have judged them and delighted in the possibility of a war crime have done nothing less than to give comfort and aid to the enemy. We should vote accordingly:

The question is how soon and how much will Murtha be damaged if it is shown Marines were not at fault? I don't see Murtha suffering with die hard left wingers. His reputation in general should suffer.

I had always understood that the S#!+bird was the fellow who stole from his buddies, avoided doing his duty, got other people in trouble, and treated the locals badly. At least that was what it meant in the Army in the early 70s (when my husband was in.)

I am not too sure about that. Murtha has been sitting back for years as the retired Marine in the House, assumed to be pro military and largely ignored.

His biggest prior publicity was the ABSCAM case.

Now with the move he has made for Majority leader should the Dems take control in the House he stands a fair chance of falling on his face if the Haditha accusations fail.

This whole atrocity story stinks like the others. If it comes down to the word of some Sunni townies who are either intimidated by the terrorists or outright support them, versus the words of a squad of US Marines, I don't have any hesitation giving the benefit of the doubt to the Marines. Somehow the liberals just can't bring themselves to do that. Honest to God, I don't know how they sleep at night.
