MSNBC's "Weekends with Maury & Connie" is being cancelled, TVNewser has learned. The program, hosted by Maury Povich and Connie Chung, will end its run next week. The husband and wife team taped their second-to-last show on Friday.
"Weekends" launched almost exactly six months ago, on January 7, 2006. It launched to quite a bit of fanfare, and it aired four times a weekend (twice on Saturday and twice on Sunday) but it never seemed to find an audience. There's no word on whether Maury, Connie, or EP Lizz Winstead will have a future role at MSNBC...

I watched 5 minutes of this. It was just awful. It did not have a chance, which is rather heartening when I think about it.

Never heard of their show and wouldn't have watched it anyway. It's a miracle that these two under-talented people could find work anywhere, even on liberal TV.
To: frankjr
The slightest breeze could easily blow away those two insufferable lightweights.

Wonder if she'll wind up on Air America? Maury can drive her to work and fetch her lunch everyday!

Laura Ingraham was taking bets on when this piece of nonsense would be canceled. She may have given it a few more months...

Wonder if she'll wind up on Air America? It depends. Can they find another children's charity to loot so they can pay her salary?

This explains why Chung attacked Ann Coulter. It was her last chance to impress her bosses and keep her job. Chung needs to look at it this way. She'll be doing damage to President Bush's unemployment numbers when she gets in line on Monday. LOL!

But they still keep Matthews and Olberman around?????
I wonder with the Clintonista Kaplan leaving if they will be next? And maybe Scarbourugh who is a big RINO and Bush hater in my book will follow. I was very disappointed in the way he drank the Kool Aid and tried to blame all of the Katrina stuff on Bush.

I used to switch over to MSNBC from Fox on Saturday -- when the money show came on at 10 on Fox. I couldn't never get into money and finances and stocks and all. MSNBC, at least was up on the news. Then they put these two on. Goodbye MSNBC --- Hello weather channel!
These two were just too cutsie. Who was the brain thinking that it could be a good format?

I never watched their show. Laura Ingraham has been pounding them pretty hard lately.
I remember watching Connie years ago when I was stationed at Quantico. She must have been on some local DC station. This would have been the early '70s.

Excellent news. Seems like the general public is seeking more adult programs and viewpoints. These superficial lefties can't generate an audience large enough to sustain the programming. I am getting my hopes up that perhaps Americans are finally getting it!
