I am generally very careful about the scansion.

I think that's the most important part. If the words don't fit the melody, you don't have a song ... just some doggerel.

The Rat party sure seems to jump from one issue to another. But these are the actions of a party out of power. Upon closer look, it is just a dog chasing its tail. Frantically, whining and growling, running in circles.
