'Heroin Addict', 'Lunatic', 'Crackpot': Fox News Watch Unkind to Coulter

Jealous guardians of high standards or just . . . jealous? There was a rare bit of consensus on tonight's Fox News Watch, as journalists from left and right came together to excoriate Ann Coulter for what they judged to be her money-motivated excesses in her latest opus, 'Godless: The Church of Liberalism'. The focus was on Coulter's controversial statements about the Jersey Girls - the 9/11 widows turned harsh Bush administration critics. Highlighted was this excerpt from Ann's book:

"These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them . . . I have never seen people enjoying their husband's death so much."

Here's a sampling of statement's from the News Watch crew:

National Review editor Rich Lowry observed that those who publicly proclaim their outrage "might as well go to the bank, take out bags of money, and hand them to Ann Coulter. This is bait. They take it every single time. And Ann, no matter what you think of her, is a marketing genius."

Lefty Neal Gabler: "I blame anyone who puts this lunatic on their air or gives her a forum. If she were a 300-pound balding man, she would be just a crackpot."

Jim Pinkerton, columnist at Newsday and TCS: "I think she jumped the shark on this one. She went too far. She crossed the line. She's like a heroin addict. She's addicted to publicity and money. And eventually it destroys you."

Summed up Jon Scott, guest-hosting for Eric Burns "ka-ching, ka-ching."

Ann is like the Savage one in that (1) she says true things that other Jabber Mavens know are true but won't say and (2) she obviously puts a lot more importance on what she really believes than what will get the most bucks...

This may be true. She went over the edge. Ann needs to mature just a little.

If Ann wanted to make this type of point about these four women and get everybody fired up, instead of saying, "I have never seen people enjoying their husband's death so much." ............. she should have said, "I have never seen people enjoying the celebrity from their husband's death so much."

She could have gotten her "needed" publicity without saying they were "enjoying their husbands' deaths".

I hope you see the difference.

Cannot endure Gabler.

Ditto, I can't take the guy .......... but in 1988 he wrote a very good book on Hollywood, "An Empire Of Their Own: How The Jews Invented Hollywood".

I despise liberals as much as she does, but I can't turn a phrase quite as neatly, nor do my calves look as nice in a pair of 4-inch opera pumps. Er, ... I don't THINK they do anyway ...

LOL.

Freeper sinkspur directs a lot of emotional, hostile criticism at Colter's attacks on the liberal tactic of victimhood.

How does he do it? Why, with a series of mean, personal attacks on her.

PROJECTION:

For sinkspur's edification, I include the following, which is a collection of definitions of projection from orthodox psychology texts. In this system the distinct mechanism of projecting own unconscious or undesirable characteristics onto an opponent is called Freudian Projection.

1. "A defense mechanism in which the individual attributes to other people impulses and traits that he himself has but cannot accept. It is especially likely to occur when the person lacks insight into his own impulses and traits."

2. "The externalisation of internal unconscious wishes, desires or emotions on to other people. So, for example, someone who feels subconsciously that they have a powerful latent homosexual drive may not acknowledge this consciously, but it may show in their readiness to suspect others of being homosexual."

3. "Attributing one's own undesirable traits to other people or agencies, e.g., an aggressive man accuses other people of being hostile."

4. "The individual perceives in others the motive he denies having himself. Thus the cheat is sure that everyone else is dishonest. The would-be adulterer accuses his wife of infidelity."

5. "People attribute their own undesirable traits onto others. An individual who unconsciously recognises his or her aggressive tendencies may then see other people acting in an excessively aggressive way."

6. "Projection is the opposite defence mechanism to identification. We project our own unpleasant feelings onto someone else and blame them for having thoughts that we really have."

Ann does not play well with others. That's also why the only man she sleeps with at night is Ben Franklin.

LOL!

The media's sour grapes and jealousy are showing. They accuse her of wanting her book to sell? What author doesn't want her book to sell? What they apparently want is that only politically correct books are published and give a pass to those on the left.

Read Anne's excellent new book. You'll find that sinkspur is, at worst, a liberal; at best, an enabler of liberals.

"What's fun though is that just about all the fish I have to release due to size, are too big (both specs and redfish). A fisherman's dream."

Many years ago when I lived in Fla., there was no season, no limit, no license required, for anything in salt water.

That was a fisherman's dream.

Kasich partied with Condit who always had some women, other than his wife, as his date.

Kasich, like Scarborough, has some ugly secrets.

That's the way it was in the 60's and 70's....and then we started running low on a number of species.

Used to able to walk on St. Andrews Marina on a late afternoon and see king mackerel stacked like cord-wood where the charter boats dock. Most of them would end up in the garbage cans...tails sticking out. They were just slaughtering them and throwing them away.

They also use to have some huge nets with spotter planes and they used to catch pompano by the acre. Sometimes the net boats would enter a small local bayou, spread the net and remove every single fish from the lagoon except those small enough (bait fish) to go through the mesh of the net.

Between the net ban, catch and release and conservation measures like size and bag limits, the stock of fish has never been better. There are more fish than ever and they're bigger fish.

I retired from running an 85 foot fishing boat, the Florida Queen (WL-4586) on bottom fishing trips in the Gulf for 30-some odd years. We were air conditioned, nice galley, crew of 12 not counting the cooks and the bunk rooms slept 40 fishermen. We worked bottom structure for snapper and grouper anywhere from 30 miles (day trip) to about 80 or so on overnight trips and two-day trips.

By 1980 the grouper and snapper were starting to seriously thin out and we had some very disappointing catches. Now the grouper and snapper stocks are back and better than they were in the "old days".

This is a crock, of course. If she had wanted to be married she wouldn't have waited until she was a long-in-the-tooth 45. And forget kids, unless some adoption agency is negligent enough to trust this piranha.

Wow! Do you know Anne personally? If not you are not a gentleman/lady. You would make Anne proud.

BTW, what's so wrong about stating the obvious, as far as I can tell?

1. The Witches of Eastwick have taken political advantage of the tragic position imposed on them by Al Qaeda as well as Clinton's ruinous 8 year rein in the WH which allowed 9/11 to happen. And the DNC/MSM always does protect their "political shills" by incessantly reminding viewers that they are either 9/11 Victims, or a mother who lost her son, or a Heroic Former Marine with 37 years of service. Anne nails it! She might not be as ladylike as some of us would prefer, but so what.

and

2. It is the Democratic Party in December 2000 poisoned the political atmosphere with their ridiculous recount agenda. Being from Chicago, I got a real kick when Billy Daily, Mayor Daily Senior's son (infamous for inventing the vote early and vote often slogan and who delivered the Democratic Party JFK's Presidential Election) announced that the Republicans stole the Presidential Election. That debacle has had international consequence. Now, two of the three Mexican political parties vow the same outcome if one of them don't win.

It seems to me that the Dems can dish it out but cry like the metrosexual wimps they are as soon as a tough talking girl gives as good as she gets. It would be a relief if the Republican Senators had as much intestinal fortitude as Anne.
