Looking for a Big 3 Bashing Thread? Here it is.

Ford insiders say the new trio will be built in Mexico, where labor costs are lower and where the auto maker is already building the Fusion, Lincoln Zephyr, and Mercury Milan. It is not all doom and gloom from the article. And Ford seems to be learning...

That's not good milage!
My wife's Lexus gets that and it's at least 1/2 of what I consider a car, the Focus is a Tonka Toy.

I wonder if Ford has GM's UAW problem? They shut down a line and still must pay the workers full time for the rest of their employment career. They pay them to sit in a room and watch television.

Critics lavished praise on the European Focus, while noting snidely that Ford clearly thought Americans were too dumb to realize they were getting an old car. This comment wipes out what little creditability the story had.

Ever since buying one 30 years ago, I've thought that Ford must be run by the most stupid people in the car business, and maybe in the world. This article would seem to support that judgement. Every time I see a picture of that moronic-looking Ford offspring (what's his name... Bob? Bill?) that currently sits in the CEO's chair, I think of my conclusion and say to myself: yup.

Sticking with my '02 Camaro and '99 Firebird for another 8 to 10 years at least (unless one of them gets clobbered and totaled like my '91 Camaro did last year.)

Handles well enough to scare the beejeebus out of Mrs. RR too...Scary fast little thing. More airbags than Pam Anderson Judging from the owner's manual. A Supercharged go-cart for when the big tank is overkill.

in all fairness i have owned a '94 f-150 since nearly new, and have yet to have any major mechanical issues with it, at 160k miles already. The automatic transmission has shuddered on shifting up since 80k, but that's it. I spoke to a guy who had the same vehicle/year, and he said the same thing. Amazingly reliable year for that model.

This is of no real importance since the reason for filling this niche was to allow the sale of popular trucks and SUVs that make big profits while the corp. maintains CAFE standards.

I LOVED my little Focus. Unfortunately, when I went to trade in my 2001 Focus for a new one, in 2005, the FORD dealership wanted to give me $1200 for it. I said is THIS how you feel about your own vehicle??
I got a Nissan Altima instead.

It's not like they haven't earned it.
Come on. Toyota and Wal-Mart get bashed around here more than the Big three.

I am the Chief of a small rural fire department here in Alaska. 4 out of the last 6 vehicle accident fatilities we have responded to have been in a Focus. I wouldn't get in one to go across the street! Big in the rental market here though.
