New York County First to Order Recognition of Gay “Marriages”

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., June 9, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Westchester County in New York State now recognizes gay marriages, after county executive Andrew Spano issued an order Wednesday, making the county the first in the state to do so. New York City and several other municipalities already extend recognition to homosexual marriages.

Homosexual couples will receive the same county privileges as heterosexual couples, including the right to purchase family passes to county parks and the right to emergency family housing, reported the AP yesterday.

“I don’t see why people, just because they’re the same sex, shouldn’t have the same benefits,” Spano said, who announced the order at a meeting of homosexual activist groups Wednesday night.

Under the county order, only couples married in a state or country where homosexual marriages are legal will be recognized. Villages and towns within the county will not be forced to recognize same-sex marriages, and the order will have no bearing on state or federal policies toward homosexual couples.

New York State’s marriage law was upheld at an appeals court last February, after homosexual activists attempted to have it struck down as unconstitutional. It is expected that the case will eventually come before the state’s highest court, the Court of Appeals.

Dear Editor,

Notice where we have gone in a few short years on homosexuals in America. At first, homosexuals wanted “tolerance” – they wanted to do as they pleased and for everyone just to leave them alone.

That shortly went to “acceptance” then to “forced indoctrination/education” and now finally to giving up our faith and morals and join them.

Marriage is the union of one man and one woman. If it is not that, it has no meaning. Marriage will mean nothing. The same arguments homosexuals use to be married are the same arguments polygamists and pedophiles will use to get married. Marriage is what it is or it has no meaning.

The traditional family is the building block of our society. Without strong families, society crumbles and America will eventually crumble.

The family had been under attack for the last 50 years from “do-gooders” in Washington, Harrisburg and Hollywood. I would say that is worth a few days of debate.

And polls do not show Americans “evenly” divided on homosexual marriage or unions. In 19 states, voters (the best pollsters) have soundly defeated homosexual marriage and homosexual union referendums by results from 60%-80%.

The Pennsylvania State House passed by a huge margin of 136-61 the beginnings of a referendum to protect marriage. Notice it wasn’t a bunch of unelected judges that tried to impose their will or ideas on society (like the Massachusetts Supreme Court). The voice of the people has spoken through democratic means.

Regards,

2banana

Westchester, where the Nomenklatura live, insulated from us common rabble, whom they direct to send their children to public cesspools - correction - schools, while they send their own kids to private schools.

The Nomenklatura are the hard core of the church of Liberalism. They think they know what's good for us. In truth, they don't even know what's good for them or their kids.

Their tentacles go out to the press, the judges, the entertainment industry and most important for the future, the universities, to whom they give large sums of money to promote their religion and stamp out all the others, except, maybe, Islam.

It's none other than wickedness in high places, and I'm afraid Hitlery is maybe their favorite Cardinal. She thinks like them. Watch for the puffs of white smoke.

Idiots! Two men having sex is as natural as a man and some animal. It is that perverted and unnatural.

So much for Krauthammer's contention that an amendment isn't necessary regarding this issue.

"Next on our program this evening: Marrying animals! Is it legal? Is it possible? Is it likely?"

Hell, why not? Just ask the county government in Westchester County.

Liberals once again yelling "Achtung! Schnell! Get into zee boxcar!"

It is only by imposing upon the people that such leftist delusion as this even sees the light of day.

Unlike the fiasco in San Francisco with Mayor Newsome obviously violating State law by performing homosexual marriages this leftist emperor is perhaps subtly violating State law by simply ordering people to "recognize" homosexual marriages.

I would imagine seeing a lawsuit over this possibly in the not too distant future...

Has there been any word on the court that took this issue up in NY recently?

The Governor HAS the authority to issue orders of his own, regarding these issues. Romney could have in MA, but didn't. wonder if Gov. B has any more guts than Romney does. Doubtful.

I have not heard anything yet on the Appeal before the NY Supreme...

Speaking of Governor's Executive Orders -I wonder if President Bush can issue one that in essence accomplishes the same thing as the Marriage Amendment...

Ah a question I have asked myself many times. I believe in the case of a President, it's a proclamation? much like the Emancipation proclamation. But then again, that may be yet another Executive power.

Good letter. The people, whenever they're allowed to voice their opinion, say "NO!" to same sex marriage.
