Walid's Article... "Zarqawi: Killing the Future CHief of Al Qaeda". I love this guy.

here's a short byte..

The taking of innocent hostages and their beheading in front of a camera, the footage of which was sent to al-Jazeera and posted on Salafi websites, is an act disconnected from humanity. In the 1940s, Hitlerian evil engaged in genocide, but its perpetrators did not air their diabolical acts in movie theatres. Zarqawi surpassed the Nazis qualitatively, but thankfully not quantitatively. Regardless of the geopolitical maze in Iraq and in the region at large, and regardless of the state of the terror war, the elimination of this Jihadi terrorist has put an end to an ongoing crime against humanity.

I think this summarizes how little Zarqawi mattered... but yet how the media still proped him up as some terror genius. I'm glad we got him though.

What baloney! It is great that he is dead, but the killing of Zarkawi will not stop islamic beheadings and genocide of the kuffar.

He was responsible for the murders of probably thousands of Iraqis. His specialty was the murder of innocent and unarmed arabs at worship, waiting for the school bus, secretaries on their way home from work.

Others have pointed out (a little too cheerfully I think) that getting him won't end the jihad. And of course it won't, its a four-part problem. You have to get the killers, you have to get the leaders who send these dufuses out to do their dirty work, you have to get the paymasters who finance this whole thing (understanding that these are probably governments) and you have to change the culture that produces this kind of psychosis (at the risk of sounding like Coulter)...

You are rather bitter in joy... I'd hate to see you pissed off.

Also, I hope that your HMO won't decline a help to because to cure you will not eliminate such phenomenon as illness.

Just my humble opinion of course, but Zarkawi, Osama, Zawahiri, and their ilk are just cogs in the machine...they are the "teeth" but islam is the shark. We can kill them them til the cows come home (and I will celebrate each death) but others will emerge to replace them.

I have yet to hear a world leader suggest a plausible plan for dealing with the real problem, fundamental islam. As long as it lives, it will be a cancer on this tiny planet.

You said -- "What baloney! It is great that he is dead, but the killing of Zarkawi will not stop islamic beheadings and genocide of the kuffar."

But, Jesus Christ *will* put a stop to it -- when He returns. And he's going to return in the midst of all this terrorism and the attempts to eliminate Israel and all the Jews that the Islamic terrorists -- are so salivating to accomplish, while following their Satanic, evil and false god of Allah and their false prophet, Mohammed.

This kind of stuff that is happening today is *precisely* what Jesus Christ is returning to *put a stop* to. And He returns *just before* the Jews and the nation of Israel are to the point of being exterminated. All this Islamic terrorism is headed to that *exact point in time* -- that is coming very quickly.

In the meantime, we'll knock them off, one-by-one, and send them to their father, the devil, where he can torture them for eternity. What fun they will have.

Zarqawi may have had Berg screaming for a short time, when he was kiling him, but Zarqawi will be screaming and squealing like that for eternity -- with *no way* to end it or get out of it. That's what he's doing now.

Regards,
Star Traveler

lol...sorry for sounding so grumpy.

The author of this article is Walid Phares. I am quite fond of him too, but he epitomizes the many moderate muslims who are inclined to believe that if we kill the terrorists, the problem will go away. He has a huge blind spot as to the complicity of islam itself in this plague.

I was trying to point out that however wonderful it is to kill terrorists, they are the symptoms and not the disease.

Phares doesn't know (or pretends not to know) the extent of brutality of Islam...and your support of this theory show you don't either.

look. you would think people could be a bit more civil. I just really like walid--especially on TV. I don't agree with him completely, I just think he adds some valuable input. Thought other readers might like a link. that's all. I'm not trying to win any arguments here... just provide info.

There's not an unlimited supply of Zarqawis. The Israelis have been quite successful in achieving great reductions in killing by going after the PA top thugs.

Jihadism is as you point out the root of the problem, but winning a war killing the enemy often works, and killing the leaders - military leaders and inspirational leaders - is most effective. Zarqawi was both.

There is the honor/shame component in Arab Islam. Kill enough of them, stop enough plots, make jihad a game for losers, all the while showing that Western culture thrives and Western economies grow while Islamic ones barely endure in wretched circumstance and we have a good chance they will crawl back under their rocks to mutter for another 3-4 generations about "disasters" and *catastrophes*.

If we can keep on killing the leaders, blocking communications, blocking financing, exposing plots and nurturing real democracy in more countries they will begin blaming each other, distancing themselves from the leaders and taking a closer look at their own nations. Imagine them being afraid to communicate in any manner except face-to-face and afraid to transfer money and arms in large quantities except perhaps between the vulnerable leaders. They could no longer just suck off Western technology and institutions, but would be severely constrained into their own backward institutions and capabilities.

These are very covetous cultures and if the Iraqis and Afghanis actually succeed in democracy and capitalism, however tenuous, all the rest of the young people will want them, too. If the Iranian students can succeed and can live open and fulfilling lives in liberty, the Islamic young people in other countries will ask why they can't have all that, as well. I could even see young people trying to emigrate to the democratic states and depriving the totalitarian ones of their next crop of martyrs.

It is better, IMO, if this happens incrementally. Otherwise, if they ever experienced cultural and economic success while the old Islamists are still around, there would be a danger that they would leverage that into their usual historical hubris and still try to take over the world.

We cannot eradicate Islam. We can subvert it. A day could even come when they have a reformation and excise the hatred from the Koran. Even if all it does is further fragment Islam, creating yet another heresy, it could help contain the endemic violence among themselves.

I know this is nearly a pollyannish sort of post, but I think we are really on the way toward draining the swamp. It is going to be slow, though. I doubt I'll live to see it through, but I can envision a day when the world no longer runs exclusively on Arabian oil and all the Wahabbis are living in their isolated and embargoed medieval kingdom in Saudi, waging jihad against each other for not being pure enough.
