The enemy has no uniformed army, as was true of the North Vietnamese.

...bombed downtown Belgrade ... to stop a genocide?

It's my recollection that the Milosevic-spawned "mass graves" turned out to be pretty much fiction. A few bodies here and there, but that's about it.

And unlike Iraq, with all the bleating about "Where's the WMD?", there was no complaining about "Where are the mass graves in Kosovo?".

Not that it's a big surprise; the president who bombed Serbia had a "D" after his name.

I've got to say I'm a big fan of VDH, however he has been writing the same article for 1 year. He lacks the freshness of a Mark Steyn. VDH is stale.

"For those who now associate the crimes of a few with an entire war effort, do any think that women and children were not maimed and worse when Bill Clinton—with no Senate approval and no effort to go to the U.N.—bombed downtown Belgrade on the righteous logic that the risk of collateral damage (500-1000 charred Serbian civilians?) was worth taking to stop a genocide? Do we remember that NATO planes mistakenly hit passenger trains, buses, an embassy, a rest home, a hospital, and apartment buildings?"

The above paragraph should be sent DAILY to every rag that prints any story defaming our military in Iraq.

We should demand that BlowJobBilly be held to the same standards as our brave Marines.

"Vietnam, My Lai, pullout, deadline, cutoff—all the old remembrances are returning, as the graying antiwar generation of the 1960s will not go quietly into the night."

Well Mr. Hanson, rest assured the graying vets that experienced the vile and treasonous effects of the "graying antiwar types won't go quietly into the night" either.

Should any of our young heroes be subjected to anywhere near the treatment we received upon their return, "WE" will be in the street with baseball bats returning swings for spits.

Never Again!!! Not on my watch anyway.

No, I'm afraid they will not.

Perhaps they are waiting for Walter Cronkite to lead them to Walhall, where they can play their mock combat.

One can only hope that Einherjar calls him home soon, so they may follow.

Being in academia (and having a few acquaintances in the Media and Hollywood) I know too many who think in the manner described in the article.

".....After all, to fight in Darfur is NOT to prance in and declare victory, but to send these same now-demonized Marines into a disease-infested sinkhole, where “civilians” kill and there is no real way to distinguish friend from foe....."

Good editorial.

"Once we leave, the killing starts in earnest, not 20 or 30 per day, but wholesale slaughter of any Iraqis who taught school, or were clean shaven and wore Western dress, or fought to save Iraq. Millions of refugees flee to the West. Those who stay are killed or “reeducated.” Islamism, like Communism"

He is right. It could be like the killing fields of Cambodia all over again. The only difference is I don't think the looney left is still stupid enough to spit on our troops as they return home.
