To all
Webb is in odd company, running on ticket with a party that basically contemptuous of his moat basic values.

If you listen to Webb he sounds very Buchanan-like or even O'Reilly-like.....BUT either way a very odd fit to the 'Party of Clinton'

Webb is a dinosaur hiding in democrat's clothing. He was very much against women in the military and later women in combat billets. I was surprised when he was confirmed to be the SecNav. He is the poster child for the Democrats' desperate plan of finding vets willing to put a "D" behind their name on a ballot.

The guy has a temper lurking under thin skin that I am sure can be brought to the surface.

That's ok, he has to get past the open primary, to run against Allen. Let me make a prediction: Miller will get all of the Republican votes.

so are a lot of Republicans really gonna vote in the Dem primary ?? I've never done it and am kinda terrified to think they'll have my name on the Dems list forever, I'll get calls, mailings, solicitations, etc .. is it really worth it ?

Good question -- I've been wondering the same thing for a while. I've long admired Jim Webb, but he has a mercurial temper, and I suspect he is running as a Democrat to spite somebody who pissed him off. All I know of Murtha is second hand, and less than stellar.

But the backbiting USMC generals really tick me off. I never knew Newbold, but my view of Zinni is that he always was a pompous ass, and his post-CentCom role as Clinton's shuttle diplomat really went to his head. Only P.K. VanRiper truly perplexes me, because I knew him to be a solid officer and brilliant strategist. But many generals have huge and jealous egos that do not adjust well to retirement.

Omar Bradley probably had the wisest view of retired generals meddling in wartime politics: "I am convinced that the best service a retired general can perform is to turn in his tongue along with his suit, and to mothball his opinions."

Amen.

Yes! You should block the calls, but relish the mailings and solicitations from Dems, tree-huggers and other bolsheviks. Each new envelope brings opportunity for revenge and relief. Here's how...

Open each enemy letter. Carefully tear out and discard any part with your name and address. Fold all the remaining contents -- plus any other junk mail lying around -- and place inside the enemy's postage-paid envelope. If you do this right, you'll need to tape it closed. Then mail it, and rest assured that the pinkos will have to pay the postage!

Now go do the Right thing and vote against Webb...

I somehow managed to get myself on one of Hillary's lists. I always send it back in their BRE.

But I ~only~ include what they sent me. I think it may be illegal to send anything else.

Ed, think about just WHY we're stuck with Jawn Warner term after dreary term after dreary term.

They won't have your name. It's illegal. And, it's deliciousl sauce for the Warner goose.

Open primaries make about as much sense as...

Well, they don't make any sense, unless the aim is to pervert the democratic process. Its like letting the enemy choose your strategy.

PK's indentical twin, Jim, was my platoon leader at TBS in 1968. He's a good guy, now retired. Saw him at our 35th reunion a couple of years ago. He could say the word "lieutenant" as if it were something offensive on the heel of his shoe!

Semper fi!

>Its like letting the enemy choose your strategy.<

True. However, in John Warner's case, subjecting Republicans to an open primary insures his reelection. The liberal media praise him, because he is a moderate (read that a RINO), and is popular with "everyone".

Warner is a great example of our enemy (Libs) choosing our strategy (RINO candidate) and conservatives getting screwed (Warner's voting record).

I voted for Dr. Demento (Howard Dean) for the presidential primary. I get a few things in the mail as a result and got some push-polling calls. I took fiendish delight in messing up their push polls.

With about 68% of the votes in...

J H Webb Jr - 53,920 - 52.17%
H N Miller - 49,435 - 47.83%

Voter turnout ~may~ get all the way up to 3%.
