Macys department store found itself mired in a fierce national debate between conservatives and gay activists when it bowed to complaints and removed part of a window display marking Boston Pride Week.

Fringe? The ACLU is even more out of touch than I had thought.
I just don't understand "pride" in an abnormal sexual behavior.
...it appears the ACLU of the People's Democratic Republic of Massachusetts is "in synch" with that state's senior senator, Teddy "The Swimmer" Kennedy; another website is reporting his comments made within the past day or so about the proposed Constitutional amendment pertaining to "gay marriage" (an oxymoron if there ever was one....!). He blasted supporters of this proposed amemdment as desiring "to write bigotry into the Constitution." What an idiot...!! Poll after poll reveals the vast majority of Americans define marriage as the union of one man and one woman; I'm sure Ms. Wunsch considers all of us straight, happily-married hetrosexuals as "a fringe anti-gay group," too.......!!!

. . . disappointed that Macys would bow to this kind of pressure.
Disappointed b/c it would not bow to THEIR pressure.
The only fringe is on their fruity little outfits.
It always amazes me when companies smack these tar babies. If you stay out of it, you never get in trouble.
Do you read the Boston Herald? One could hardly characterize it as "Lib Light." The Herald's editorial policy is generally right wing.
proud member (no pun intended)
(tap...tap...tap... "test test test - 1-2-3... Hello - is this thing on???") Ummm... Miz Wunsch, YOU are the fringe and WE are the majority.
What bothers me most re: these kinds of stories is the fact that all these various companies are trying to please everyone and at the same time not appear to be "bowing" to anyone's pressure. This is understandable but totally delusional. They need to make a decision and stand by it and defend it. I would have a lot more respect for them if this was the case, even if I didn't agree with their decision.
There, all fixed!
If Macy's had just announced that the gay male manikans in the window were wed by Ted Kennedy, I'm sure all would have blown over.
Fringe? 80% of the electorate in Alabama is fringe. But that's okay; they're still carpetbaggers and damyankees.
"The Herald's editorial policy is generally right wing."
Not in my recent experience. The words they choose to use in this article alone are heavily biased. They have definitely prostituted themselves to the queers. Just by comparison to Socialists World (aka Boston Globe) do they appear conservative. Kind of like comparing Hillary to McCain.
It's advertising.
It gets the people and press
pumping up the buzz.
