Namely, that ceding the advantage to the Democrats on national issues ignores the fact that, despite any unfavorable reaction to the Republicans' handling of certain issues, the public still emphatically favors their positions over those of the Democrats.
Therefore, for the Republicans to even appear to be forfeiting this arena not only fails to acknowledge that the public is receptive to conservative views -- but also gives the impression that Republicans are either too ashamed or too afraid to stand up for those views.
Indeed, a very powerful case can be made in their favor on these issues -- a fact that makes the seemingly inexplicable Republican reticence simply maddening for conservatives

The joke is on Conservatives unfortunately. They use the base every election cycle, and then they quickly forget us for another two years. In the 2004 election cycle, the number one issue in exit polling was morality. Why has the Party not used this since then?

Which is why I would be too ashamed to contribute to the GOP. I will vote for individual conservative Republicans but will not support the party. I will not vote for CINOs/RINOs. The party mechanism has been captured by big-government, globalist supporters. I haven't sent a dime to that pathetic bunch in years and don't intend to start again any time soon.
