GOP Reluctant to Assert Conservative Views at National Level (What are “they” afraid or ashamed of?)
Human Events ^ | June 7, 2006 | Greg Franke

And here is where the previously cited irony from the Clinton era is relevant. Namely, that ceding the advantage to the Democrats on national issues ignores the fact that, despite any unfavorable reaction to the Republicans' handling of certain issues, the public still emphatically favors their positions over those of the Democrats.

Therefore, for the Republicans to even appear to be forfeiting this arena not only fails to acknowledge that the public is receptive to conservative views -- but also gives the impression that Republicans are either too ashamed or too afraid to stand up for those views.

Indeed, a very powerful case can be made in their favor on these issues -- a fact that makes the seemingly inexplicable Republican reticence simply maddening for conservatives

A great article for us frustrated Conservatives and yet another reason to motivate us to keep the pressure on our elected officials NOT to take a middle of the road (READ: "Moderate") approach and proves--once again--that the majority of Americans continue to support traditional and conservative ideas, issues and values.

Hopefully, Conservatives in Congress (Forget about the RNC--its a lost cause) will read and heed!

The joke is on Conservatives unfortunately. They use the base every election cycle, and then they quickly forget us for another two years. In the 2004 election cycle, the number one issue in exit polling was morality. Why has the Party not used this since then?

"Republicans are either too ashamed or too afraid to stand up for those views".

Which is why I would be too ashamed to contribute to the GOP. I will vote for individual conservative Republicans but will not support the party. I will not vote for CINOs/RINOs. The party mechanism has been captured by big-government, globalist supporters. I haven't sent a dime to that pathetic bunch in years and don't intend to start again any time soon.

Republicans are either too ashamed or too afraid to stand up for those views.

If they are they should do the right thing and step aside. There is no room for cowards.

It is not mysterious.

The problem is the President and his staff. He is not a conservative, nor is his staff, albeit pretending to be at times*.

Which means that the real conservatives as a matter of Party loyalty are conflicted.

The real problem, IMO, are those who let him get away with that pretense.

We aren't called the "stupid party" for nothing.
