TRENTON The race for U.S. Senate in New Jersey is set.
Democrat Robert Menendez and Republican Tom Kean Jr. won their parties' nominations in Tuesday's primary.
Albio Sires is ahead in his bid to serve Menendez's remaining term in the House. Sires has a slight lead over Perth Amboy Mayor Joe Vas in the primary to run for the seat in November.
Voter turnout was expected to be light because there were few contested races and no high-profile ones, but Menendez and Kean were expected move on easily.
Low voter turnout was expected to help conservative Republican John Ginty make a decent showing against Kean.
Would like to see if the A.N.S.W.E.R-endorsed Joe Vas pulled an upset over Republican-turned-Democrat Albio Sires in the Dem primary for my district (which is, in effect, the general election).
Ginty was too good for this state.
Expect the bootlickers to show up soon to beg conservatives to support Kean.
This has shades of the MSM calling FL early for Gore.
Keep voting, NJ conservatives!
I hope we haven't seen the last of John Ginty, just as I hope Bret Schundler will run for state office again.
Sires may have once been a Republican, but he's a left-wing Democrat. The difference is between the liberal wing and the machine-wing. Albio clearly represents the machine-wing, which apparently pulled through. With Albio, Boss Norcross now has a second boy in Washington, in addition to Andrews.
Little Puke---46567--75%
John Gitny----15273--25%
Beg all they want, I for one will NEVER vote for Kean
If NJ "conservatives" can't bring themselves to support whoever the Republican nominee would have been against Menendez, then we will deserve what we get when Menendez wins. I'm sure that will make 'em happy.
"Expect the bootlickers to show up soon to beg conservatives to support Kean."
25% is a sizeable showing considering that Kean was supposed to have only token opposition. Way to go, Ginty. And thanks to Antoninus for rallying the troops here in NJ.
The election was supposed to turn on Bayonne and JC. I have a feeling that even if Vas pulled ahead in Bayonne, the DeGise Democrats (direct descendants of 1930s JC Mayor Al "I am the law in Jersey City" Hague) probably padded the vote in the ghetto areas of Jersey City, where turnout is usually VERY low, almost nonexistent, during primaries.
In other words, all of the votes that Vas the Porkchop Pinko could gather in Middlesex, Essex and South Hudson Counties could not make up for the padded totals from JC, Elizabeth (part of which is in the district) and the Berganline Corridor (Union City/Guttenberg/West New York/North Bergen).
25% is exceptional for Ginty, who I daresay not too many people had heard of just a couple of weeks ago. Exceptional.
That said, I will vote for anyone but Menendez, and that includes going third-party which will ensure just that.
Kean is just as liberal as Menendez.
Unless NJ conservatives enjoy BDSM, why would they support Kean only to get screwed again?
1) He entered the race Way to late to gain sufficient name recognition
2) He way overly focused on the Social Stuff, All anyone knew about him was he was against Abortion & Stem Cell research. Which made him sound like a one platform candidate. He should have mixed it up more with the fiscal and law&order(i.e. immigration) conservative parts.
I see what you mean now.
Because he has an "R" by his name and that seems to matter to some folks because they caucus with Republicans. This way they can "feel" good, believing Republicans are in the majority and their mortal enemies (Democrats) are not.
Though it matters little since the RINO's use their time in the Senate to help Dems obstruct judges (filibuster is still in play), try to split up Hawaii, dissolve our borders, votes to restrict speech, vote against tax cuts..
Basically a vote for a RINO is a vote for a RINO's agenda, which seems to be even more destructive then a Democrat's agenda because they are Liberals but allowed to get away with more because they have an "R".
Any news from California on the congressional seat?
Kean could at least contribute to the Republican senate majority. What positives does Menendez provide?
Look what we've had to endure in this state as Republicans. It's not going to turn around quickly. I was devastated when Schundler lost to McGreevey, but I didn't adopt the "take my marbles and go home" attitude. That is not productive.
