Funny, I don't remember adoring pieces in Time, Newsweek or the Washington Post about Free Republic. Even when we were framing the debate on the impeachment of Clinton, or unmasking Dan Rather.

Odd.

Excellent catch, Peach. Does show how clearly the nation is riven in two. None of what Ana considers 'sexy' even interests me.

Sounds like more kneepad journalism to me, actually, but it's good you pinged in here.

Hope Kos got new servers. Remember when Rush would mention their name, and the site servers would go down?

DailyKos.com, the world's most popular political blog.

A clearinghouse for liberal screeds and progressive perspective on the news, the site claims to get more than 500,000 unique visitors daily and more than 10,000 members maintain their own sub-blogs (called "diaries") within its reaches. On Thursday, almost a thousand of these loyal readers and contributors — along with Wesley Clark, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada and former Virginia governor and potential '08 contender Mark Warner — will gather in Las Vegas for a pep rally-cum-political conference, "Yearly Kos."

I don't know the stats for FR visitors and posts, but find it difficult to believe Daily Kos is the most popular political web site in the world.

He speaks in staccato paragraphs, punctuated by intense stares and a raised eyebrow.

I know someone like that...but they have meth issues...

ANA MARIE COX sounds like she'd like to give Kos a Clinton.

No bias there, huh? This puff piece had me laughing all the way through, especially the parts about how Kos himself admits that if one wants high minded debate, don't visit Daily Kos.

Among bloggers, he is probably most famous for his tactless response to the June 2003 video images of the corpses of American military contractors being dragged through the streets of Fallujah, about which he wrote, "I feel nothing... Screw them." While conservatives — and many liberals — criticized Moulitsas's intemperance, the controversy did nothing to slow the site's skyrocketing readership. Indeed, the incident gave him his trademark.

I'm glad Time mentions it, although is practically dismissive about this disgusting quote and the mentality it represents. It is not mere "intemperance", but a lack of respect for the dignity of human life in the service of attacking one's country. If he wants to revel in this "trademark", then more's the pity for him and his devotees.

"Compact and wiry, Moulitsas, 34, exudes quivering intensity. He speaks in staccato paragraphs, punctuated by intense stares and a raised eyebrow. His eyes bulge slightly outward..."

In other words, a tweaker.

Well, Ana Marie Cox is the infamous "Wonkette," and judging from some of her past blog content, Kos wouldn't be the first one she Clintoned.

We're talking about the rhetorical excesses that can spill out of the impassioned debate that takes place on his creation, DailyKos.com, the world's most popular political blog.

Debate? Oh please those intolerant delusional liberal kooks will ban you instantly if you disagree one iota with them.

Are they really the most popular political website on the Internet? Where do we rank on FR?

You joined 6 years before I did, but when you were on the inside, I remember reading a lot about Free Republic in the late 1990s. It helped that Trixie was still here and Bob Barr spoke at the rally, but FR was pretty big news. Nothing like this had been done before.

Now that Republicans are in control of the government instead of Clintoon, the media is looking at who they consider the outsiders. That's the liberals.
We're not a government-in-exile any more, really.

Compact and wiry, Moulitsas, 34, exudes quivering intensity. He speaks in staccato paragraphs, punctuated by intense stares and a raised eyebrow. His eyes bulge slightly outward, as if reacting to the pressure of all the ideas inside his head.

Perfect descripiton of a quivering lunatic if you ask me.
