I came across this chart while searching the net over the weekend. I think it's about the most effective rebuttal to the Global Warming hysterics that I've ever come across.

We should just call it what it is: Global Hysteria.

Hmmm, judging by your chart and the extreme dip in temperatures in the Carboniferous period looking a LOT like the dip in the Tertiary period, does this mean dinosaurs are going to make a comeback? The age of the dinosaur started in the Triassic.

Gee, when viewed in its proper context in this chart, it is obvious that Average Global Temperature is slowly but steadily declining (Global Cooling!!!), which is what you would naturally expect given that the Earth's only heat source, the Sun, also has a steadily declining average temperature.

Here's another one that goes back a little further:

One of the things you notice right off the bat is that we're in one of the coolest periods of the last three-quarters of a billion years or so. And these cool periods are always very short-lived. In other words, the earth's temperature appears to be inherently unstable at these cool temps. So don't expect it to remain at these levels long.

For most of the earth's history during the last 750 million years or so it's been much, much warmer. Up to 10 degrees celsius warmer (about 18 degrees fahrenheit...ouch!). And it's stable at those high levels, sometimes remaining there for up to 100 million years at a time and beyond.

Looks like we've been in a real decline in temperature for the last thirty years or so - confirms what I remember reading in Time Magazine back in the 70's - that we're headed for another ice age......
