Another Terrorist Attack Coming Soon?
CBS News ^ | June 5, 2006

Posted on 06/05/2006 4:14:43 PM PDT by West Coast Conservative

U.S. officials believe Canadian arrests over the weekend and three recent domestic incidents in the United States are evidence the U.S. will soon be hit again by a terrorist attack. Privately, they say, they'd be surprised if it didn't come by the end of the year, reports CBS News correspondent Jim Stewart.

The first of the domestic incidents, all of which drew little attention at the time, began with the holdup of a string of Torrance, Calif. gas stations last summer. Muslim converts who bonded together in prison planned to use the robberies to finance attacks on 20 Army recruiting stations.

Los Angeles Police Chief William Bratton admits they stumbled on the plot during a search.

"Make no mistake about it," Bratton said. "We dodged a bullet here — perhaps many bullets."

Police in Toledo, Ohio, busted another cell in February. This one consisted of three men training to attack U.S. forces overseas. Once again, luck played a role. When they tried to enlist someone in their mosque to help, he turned them in.

"These individuals are often hiding in plain sight in cities like Torrance and now Toledo," says John Pistole, a FBI deputy director.

Two months ago, a pair of Atlanta men, one a Georgia Tech engineering student, were arrested not long after communicating by e-mail with two of the suspects arrested in Canada over the weekend. The Atlanta men are charged with videotaping domestic targets, including the U.S. Capitol and the World Bank.

Analysts now conclude similarities between all the cases were dramatic: All were self-financed, self-motivated, and in each case the men were seeking out others to join their cell.

In short, Osama bin Laden didn't pay for these plots, recruit for them or even know of them. They were all totally homegrown — even amateurish. But if four, including the one in Canada, have been uncovered in just 11 months, officials fear there are inevitably other plots that have not been and are maturing even now.

The next attack here, officials predict, will bear no resemblance to Sept. 11. The casualty toll will not be that high, the target probably not that big. We may not even recognize it for what it is at first, they say. But it's coming — of that they seem certain.

...regarding the plan to hit the St. Louis arch.

Not sufficient death and mayhem in that target.

If you would like to read a good article about The Harlot of Babylon and Saudi Arabia, go to yourarmstoisrael.org and select "sermon notes" and pull up "The Final End Time Beast".

"Tossing out of the majorities"???? What does that mean?

And what is the NCLB Act?

If we react by rounding them up for deportation the islamists have their 'proof' that we are at war with their so called relegion. If, as a public & not as a state, there followed a string of lynchings; the socialists and one worlders within the US win and the islamists get what they wanted anyway.

Then we'll just have to lynch the socialists and one-worlders too!

But seriously, someone correctly wrote earlier on one of these threads that there are no rules in a real fight. Rules are for games.

In fact, if (in the event of an Islamic terrorist attack) Muslims were not rounded up for internment camps, then there would be lynchings. I have been told by folks who were there that the Japanese-American internment camps were in part for the protection of the Japenese from mobs bent on violence. The real sin was not the camps, but in confiscating and selling the property of loyal, productive American citizens of Japanese descent. It was immoral then, and would be immoral now regardless of who was being rounded up for the camps.

Proof that we are at war with their so-called religion ... in the minds of those who spin. In reality, it would be proof that we are at war with members of that religion who are using violence to convert non-Muslims. Because this would be a real fight, there would be no rules, i.e., there would be no such niceties as judging each Muslim on a case-by-case basis.

That last one is very simple, and though it is a fuzzy concept and differential now, it wouldn't be at all hard to understand for Americans who had seen, and perhaps had, American children and families and innocents killed in domestic terrorist attacks by Muslims. And those Americans would say, "To hell with with what the rest of the world thinks. These are our people being killed on our soil." I think you give WAY too much credit to Socialists and one-worlders in the U.S.: they are laughable, always have been, and would be even more laughable in the event of domestic terrorist attacks.

You are all doom and gloom. So, what reaction do YOU think would NOT set the stage for "chaos or enslavement"? Or are we doomed where we stand?

If anyone really thinks somebody supporting Tancredo would be pleased at millions of dead Americans they are WAY out of line.

"Places like Hamtrack (sp?)MI, Plainfield, NJ and NYC are crawling with the followers of allah. So, its probably just a matter of time."

You're probably right, from the attitude of some folks here against them, it may not be long before some kid crazy decides to off himself in some spectacular fashion to make some point.

Unfortunately, it will take another attack to remind folks of what we are up against..

I'm afraid you are right...

The idiot Jihadi's who have sown to the wind will certainly reap the whirlwing that they will have no capacity to endure or survive.

But between now and then, they are hell bent on creating as much death, destruction and chaos as possible.

And disconnected, self created and motivated idiological 'brothers' with Osama are not going to be so easy to stay on top of, imho.

Which if something bad would have happened it would be regarded as an "isolated event" and not considered terrorism.

The government will do its best to downplay a single incident as not being terrorism. However...if multiple events happen at the same time...they won't be able to squash it...just like the morning of 9-11....look what they did with the plane that dropped out of the sky over Long Island not too long after 9-11....immediately they said not terrorism...I am still not convinced that was not a shoe bomber.

If Reid had blown the plane up over the ocean and actually gotten away with it...they would have said mechanical failure...ala TWA 800.

I also think that we are long over due for a terror attack. Al Qaeda has patience but it has never been this long between attacks.

Also on a somewhat related issue we are also long over due for a commerical airline disaster. The last one was in November of 2001.

If Islamic nutcases start bombing schools, killing kids on buses and bomb shopping malls...you will see citizens...NOT law enforcement taking matters into their own hands...9-11 was their free pass.

That free pass will not be given again. Expect serious civil unrest...Bush or whoever is President will not be able to push any of that "isolated terrorists...hijacking a peaceful religion" bullshit.

Lock and Load

There are those on this forum who have decided to "toss out the GOP" to teach them a lesson.

I'd like to just work towards elected more conservative GOPers because I believe that politicians have a difficult enough time getting the message when you say it straight out. Kick them out and the result will be Democrats. The GOP is likely to get the message that they are not liberal enough...and I don't want to run the risk of another 40 years wandering in the wilderness.

The NCLB Act is the No Child Left Behind Act. A dismal piece of legislation. Right up there with the CFR (Campaign Finance Reform.)

You have it right - given money and the organisation, would they rather stand out with a bunch of poor Mexicans, or mix in with a bunch of students, tourists and businessmen on a BOAC flight ?

Al Qaeda is plenty busy in Iraq and Africa and Asia. They are fighting our citizens in Iraq and Afghanistan...remember that...they might be in uniform...but they are still fighting and bombing on a daily basis.

As for a domestic attack?...it is surprising indeed that we have not had one...considering how simple it is to obtain guns and explosives through theft and the black market.

All they need is to simultaneously attack shopping malls or schools and the landscape and face of this nation will forever be changed and never the same again.

Others may agree, wasn't the distribution of Homeland Security funds changed to increase that for some cities in flyover country ?

CBS also forgot the kid who blew himself up at an Oklahoma City football game.

You could well be right.

However, please keep in mind that the NWO folks are itching to create as many and as early a set of excuses that they think they can get away with to declare martial law.

. . . consfiscate guns . . .

herd patriots into camps . . .

other 'minor' hellish junk like that.

I couldn't agree more with that. We all think the next attack will be chemical or nuclear in nature and be as spectacular as 9/11. I even wrote my congressman about how easy it would be for someone to sneak a weapon or explosive device into a baseball stadium and cause 100s of deaths.
