Acting on a Florida lawyer’s suggestion that violent video games may have figured in Tuesday’s slaying of a West Feliciana Parish man, sheriff’s deputies searched the home of one teenage suspect again on Thursday.
West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Capt. Spence Dilworth said deputies seized several video games rated “M” for “Mature” from the residence of Kurt Edward Neher, 16, but the detective said he is not drawing any conclusions from his findings.
“I think it goes beyond video games, but who’s to say?” Dilworth said of the slaying of Michael Gore, 55, of 10077 La. 421, St. Francisville.
Dilworth said the question of whether video games can spark violence in juvenile players may be “more of a debate for the living room rather than the courtroom.”
Jack Thompson of Coral Gables, Fla., said Friday he suggested that West Feliciana Parish sheriff’s detectives look at the violent video game angle as a possible motive because published reports of Gore’s injuries “raised a red flag” in his, Thompson’s, mind.

Thompson said published reports that Neher told detectives he and Everette killed Gore because Gore would not let them borrow his car follows “the same scenario in (the video) ‘Grand Theft Auto.’ ”
This theory would apply to R rated movies in the house of a juvenile as well. It is completely wrong.
Is there a video game where the gamer plays a police state that tries to censors everything in sight? I bet Jack Thompson would approve of THAT game...

When he was pitching stories of conspiracies, cover-ups, drunk driving, escorts, leather and lesbianism amongst the Democrat elite, hell, he was a knighted angel of G-d.
Um, and now some dipshiate podunk sheriff fell for his latest snakeoil pitch. Probably will railroad jury selection and force a trial to set precedent too.
I'd probably watch a mockumentary about Thompson, mix in "A Big Fish" with "Roger and Me", and a little old time Florida theme park, maybe the Weeki Wachee Springs mermaids, and you got yourself a sleeper summer movie.

I've logged many hours of GTA, and I don't remember the characters ever asking to "borrow" a car.
