"Reagan blew a number of things.......including amnesty. That's why it's almost amusing that those of you who are hostile and angry at Bush about immigration still deify Reagan."

No one is denying that Reagan made a major mistake on amnesty. But great leaders learn from their own mistakes and the mistakes of others ... AND DON'T REPEAT THEM.

The Bush/Senate amnesty is going to make Reagan's amnesty look like a Cub Scout Den compared to the National Jamboree.

Bush has taken a number of other measures to secure the border that Reagan did not take.

And whether you call what Bush is doing 'amnesty' or not, it is not the same thing as Reagan did. Wholesale, no strings attached amnesty.

And NONE of that negates the fact that the same people who hate Bush for his immigration pollicy deify Reagan, whose policy was worse.

Sorry.......but it's amusing to those of us who think logically.

Bush isn't making a mistake over immigraton. The biggest mistake would be is to do NOTHING.
