I don't doubt that something other than normal was afoot here. However, if you came to my house you would find some Ammonium Nitrate, two 9mm hand guns and a whole lot of other firearms and ammunition to feed them. A set of two way walky-talkies, that my sons use to play with and some other highly suspect items, like military uniforms going back to the early 1960's. We need to have something else to go on besides normal everyday stuff that most people have around the house.

Bump for the RCMP - they should start exporting them.

6 acres is only a big back yard.

"As at other times in our history, we are a target because of who we are and how we live, our society, our diversity and our values values such as freedom, democracy and the rule of law the values that make Canada great, values that Canadians cherish."
Stephen Harper has explained it in a nutshell.

Lookee here:
If this CNN photo really shows what it was stated to show, that is, a set of gadgets seized from those apprehended, Canadian LE will have no problem whatsoever convincing any jury that these guys were terrorists intent on destroying parts of Canada.
Since I believe that is so, I beg to differ: it is over.

Watch Harper handle this and learn, GOP. Watch the Canadian libs fall even further in the polls as Harper debates when to call for an election to and win a real majority.
Bump!

What a pile of nothing. Strip away everything not related to the headline - RCMP Behind Bomb Material - and here's what you're left with:
Sources say investigators who had learned of the group's alleged plan to build a bomb were controlling the sale and transport of the massive amount of fertilizer

If anything will incite terrorism, it will be same sex "marriages". I wonder if the left have thought about that?

They purchased 3 tonnes of sodiam nitrate - that's not a very common thing to purchase - especially when you don't own any facility which has need of such materials.
I think stings are great! They reveal ahead of time what evil is being planned. The INTENT was to blow up a lot of things - with the INTENT of killing a lot of people.
Seems like some people are not very grateful for this evil being removed from accomplishing their goal.

The multimeter, soldering iron and batteries are commonnly found in the homes of a million electronic enthusiasts.
A box containing large batteries,a cellphone and room for or igniters is a terrorist device.

See the photo posted in #47. This wasn't just some isolated stuff gathered in a box.
But if you really want to understand what the police did here, check out this story:
http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar/Layout/Article_Type1&c=Article&cid=1149285034044&call_pageid=976163513378&col=969048863474
There is MUCH more information in this story by reporter MICHELLE SHEPHARD filed at 1AM YESTERDAY morning. It seems she had foreknowledge of this bust and kept her mouth shut. No way she wrote this well researched story in a couple hours. Kudos to her.
It also points out the absolute need for LE to have the tools to discover these terrorists before they strike. Let's hope that the politicians, both Canadian and American, continue to give them the tools, and that judges don't take them away.

Complete agreement, except that I seldom have found use for eight alkaline batteries ganged together. I state that, too, is designed for terrorist activity.

Eight alkaline (or plain old carbon cells) provide 12 volts,a very common dc source voltage. Several popular shortwave radios sold by Radio Shack over a period of more than a decade could be powered from the optional eight cell pack if ac power was not available. Look at the little symbols on many wall-wart powered device and it will most likely read 12vdc (some are only 9vdc).
I think I like it better when the appliance just had a two-prong cord and not the extra connection of the wall-wart cord to get loose or have the wrong one plugged in(zzzzzt!)And some are + in the middle, some the reverse, aaargh!

I do alot of electronic repairs and projects, just built a robot kit with my nephew........and all that in the picture could be found in my gagrage. I even have a old portable black and white tv that runs on 8 ganged "c" batteries.
It's kind of scary what the police can claim to be precursors to a crime. I believe in Indiana it only takes 3 precursors to be charged for a meth lab and we all have them .....tin foil, lithium batteries and drain cleaner.

Does anyone think MacGyver would be premiered now (if it was a new show)?
