#405, They think that we are SOS (stuck on stupid), and they still live in the olden days of the power of the MSM/DNC. They forget about the New Media, and it's growing power only in The infant stage right now. They cannot get away with the manipulation and out and out lies.
These sunday hosts and Drudge on Sunday evening talk about the covers of Time and Newsweek, and I smile, because it proves how out of touch the beltway crowd really is. Nobody sees the cover of TIME or Newsweek anymore,
I give Russert credit for asking the question, even if he did only do it in a context where a "real expert" could "knock it down" and discredit it without providing any of the evidence that this is, in fact, what happened. Maybe he read Peach's post. Or maybe he should read Peach's post.
I think I'll send it to him as a comment. With your permission, Peach?
Blix: "They were destroeyed in 1991, that is what Saddams son-in-law has said, and I believe that is the truth"
Good for you, Hans. I believe that he did have them and that they were moved and that is what Israel's top general during the Iraq war Moshe Yaalon, former U.S. deputy undersecretary of defense for international technology security John A. Shaw, retired Marine Lt. Gen. Michael DeLong, the first head of the Iraq Survey Group David Kay, interrogations of former Iraqi officials, a Syrian journalist who defected, Nizar Nayuf, and the deputy chief of Saddam Hussein's air force have said and I believe them. One difference, Saddam's son-in-law has a HUGE motive for lying to you, you moron!
What is it going to take to wake people up to the fact that Counter Insurgency is not total war. Some people here are convinced that the "Solution" to Iraq is to fight it like World War 2. That is stupid. Total War and Counter Insurgency are two completely different types of missions.
In Total war you fight to destroy or subdue the enemy's political culture. You have fixed geographic targets to take or destroy to eliminate the enemies ability to combat you.
You have no such targets in Counter Insurgency. Your enemy is not that organized. He is able to operate from hidden bases on limited, and covert, means of supply. You have to eliminate his political support. That means while defeating HIS political structure, you have to create your own counter political structure.
Trying to fight Counter Insurgency as Conventional War gets you the Russians in Afghanistan, the US in Vietnam, the Nationalists in the Chinese Civil War or the Nazis in Eastern Europe. It doesn't work.
The US is winning the Iraqi war handily. The Terrorists and the Saddamites have not been able to move beyond state one of Guerrilla war. Basically Iraq is large scale gang violence. They can murder and wreck things, they cannot evolve. The problem is this American fetish for quick, easy answers. We want every thing done 5 mins ago. We continually fall of con men and charlatans that promise us easy, quick solutions to complex problems. There are not any easy answers in the War on Terrorists
Nothing that lasts long, or is worth doing, in life is either quick nor easy. Iraq is no different. Winning in Iraq requires patient, intellectual and emotional discipline and focus. All things sadly missing from Modern American Political discourse. The best evidence to prove this point is the Clinton years. They continually reached for the easy out, the quick, painless answer. The result? Almost everything that may have been a positive of the Clinton presidency has collapsed. Anything they tried to do has either fallen apart or is in the process of collapsing. The ONLY thing durable from the Clinton years are their errors. Somalia, Bosnia, Hati, Contempt for the Rule of Law, etc etc etc
WWaDD: Call for Max Mayfield's head. He did not warn you that your flagpole was in danger and it IS the hurricane season!
#414, I would not read too much into the bumper stickers of Kerry still on vehicles. People don't usually keep Loser stickers on their car. In my area the one's that you see are usually on really elderly People's vehicles and they probably don't know how to remove them, or do not know that that they are still on the car. Most of those people do not even look at the back of their car unless they back into someone in the PL of Wally World. LOL!
To date I have seen exactly two "American" made cars with these Hate America Always bumper sticker. Amazing how many of these end up on European imports cars. Says something about the owners mindset that they by vastly overpriced European made cars.
There are people who have waiting 35-40 years for an accounting from these people. The Democrat Party Leadership has NO idea of the vein of rage they are tapping with this propaganda action against the Marines.
Were you living in Florida in March, 1993? We were down at Disneyworld and got trapped a couple of extra days by the "no name storm." Now that was an experience. Hurricane force winds, snow in the panhandle and all across the deep south. Quite an experience.
The President needs allies including his own party. When you take a position on immigration that aligns you with the Dems and RINOs against the majority of your own party, you run the risk of losing the support of the base when you need it most. Loyalty begets loyalty.
#425, LOL! How true....
Whenever I hear him referred to as "Supreme Allied Commander of Nato" or whatever it was, I have to laugh. It's either that or cry to think that he would have a title similar to that of Dwight Eisenhauer.
Not in Denver. We have enough political activists in Denver to fill Mile High Stadium. The stickers I see the most of are on younger to middle aged people. The twenty-somethings, who are really active, are still fighting the 2000 and 2004 elections, convincing themselves they "was robbed."
Intresting that this "Journalism student" has the same name as a person listed as a Major in Saddam's secret police.
They are gonna find out before we are through! Many Americans know better than to attack our troops with lies when they are already under attack by enemies without uniforms. Those who don't will be informed in no uncertain terms. Plus we will kick their ass.
Condi and Juan used to date.
It did not take long for Condi to discover that Juan had less going for him then the dead lobster on Condi's plate, and she dumped him.
Well, if she dumped him and he's still giving here credit where credit is due then I think (a little) better of Juan for that.
Anytime you get into the diplomatic track, it will take longer, especially if it is a multilateral approach. You have to build a consensus among your allies on each and every point at every stage. The talks with North Korea have been going on for years. The real question is whether Iran is really serious at arriving at a solution or just using the talks to delay and muddle things.
