"Our circus brings them to areas where people don't see such animals very often. That's not something we should deprive our future generations of."

Ugh. I have never liked the circus. No more elephants. Kids can see them in nature preserves or now video , dvd's. the time is over for this travesty and cruelty!
To: CedarDave
Yes, release them back into the wild where they will be promptly slaughtered.

I don't think elephants versus animal rights activists is a fair fight, but it would be fun to watch.

Messed up my comment -- agree that it would be unfortunate for young and old to be deprived of seeing elephants up close. Heck, when we were children, we were given rides on their backs (don't think that's the case today due to liability issues).
What's crazy about the lawsuit is that RB's use of animals bred and raised in the US is being challenged because of loss of habitat overseas.

I'm okay with them keeping the elephants but can they please get rid of the clowns?

This is a perfect example of how these activist groups are using the courts to destroy our traditions, restrict our freedoms, and generally turn America into a tepid bowl of mush.

Maybe the circus can suggest to the crazies that if they can't use the elephants in the show they'll just have to kill them and eat them.

I am not a big fan of Zoos or of keeping wild animals in captivity.
Maybe I read too many Tarzan novels. Maybe that is it.
On the other hand, the kids love Zoos, and if you are one who reads or believes in the Bible then you might be familiar with the notion of the concept of "Dominion."
Whatever, these zealots for the rights of animals ought to redirect their energy.
I think that if they are unwilling to to do so, then they really are crazy. Most thinking people realize that already, but, I tend to get wordy at times cuz I don't think so good.
Elephant Rights! What will they think of next?

I am the last person in the universe to agree with PETA on anything but I have come to hate circuses and zoos. I loved going to zoos as a child and took my kids when they were little but now when I think of wild animals in a 4x4 cage I am sick at heart. Circuses are no better. Wild animal parks where people are in cages (vehicles) and the animals are free to move around are OK.
