When asked in 2004, what were the 3 main issues I had in the Presidential election, my answer was, and still is....Judges, judges, and judges.

Not to diminish any of the other issues, how many people were voting for "immigration reform" in 2004?????

Probably about the same amount who voted in 2000 to go into Afganistan.

GEEESH, the problem hadn't presented itself, but I voted for Bush as he represented the Law and Order party and I expect the Law to be upheld when the problems become so big that they have to be dealt with.

Hint, hint the laws are already on the books.

Judges (Conservative/Constructionist) are VERY important. However, won't you concede that the Illegal Alien issue is AS important?

After all, if we end up with the Bush/Senate version, what kind of country will we have (If at all) in 20 - 30 years from now?

Furthermore, what to say its all or one or the other? WHY NOT BOTH? Or all three (reducing the size of gov't)? Or, 4 (cutting spending)? etc.

You know, none of this is a "Zero sum Game!"

You probably played ostrich this year and burried your head in the sand. The millions of illegal aliens didn't take over our streets in 2003-2004. They did so this year. It is an issue now.

Tremendous point in my district in 2004. I voted for Sardo in the primary, and came within inches of not voting for Dreier in the election as he went /running/ to position himself away from his illegal lover stance.

John and Ken of KFI 640 in Los Angeles really pushed the point with Fire Dreier rallies. This did not just appear out of nowhere in the last couple years, this has been simmering for a long time. And I have no doubt that the House version came from constituent anger.

But yes, judges, judges, judges. No Harriet Myers, more Samuel Alito.

Wow that about sums it up. I never heard Bush say he was going to takle immigration in his SOTU or in any of his 04 campaign promises....

AMAZING HOW THE OPPOSITION PARTY CAN LOB AN ISSUE AND DRIVE A WEDGE IN THE PRESIDENTS BASE

and make them think the issue was part of a campaign promise...

No one was voting for reform, we were voting for a continued WOT. The hope was that once reelected W, could finally back away from an open border. Stil waiting.

agree with you 110%... remember when we had the two SC picks and all the arguement and debate gong on here at FR? i don't remember anybody here saying that the border issue was more important. Who sits on the judiciary is just as important or more...

Most people voted for the swift boat vets.
Without them Bush probably would have lost.
