The conservative Club for Growth has released highlights of a poll that shows Sen. Lincoln D. Chafee in a statistical dead heat with his Republican primary challenger, Stephen P. Laffey.
The Washington-based group, which has endorsed Laffey, said its survey of 300 very likely Republican primary voters showed that Chafee would get 45.7 of the vote if the election ``were held today'' and Laffey, the mayor of Cranston, would get 44.3 percent

Is Laffey a Conservative or just another member of the Northeast Milquetoast Brigade?
This is a tough call, as the current political climate makes it very difficult for Stephen Laffey in the general election. But Chafee's record is so appalling, it's a chance worth taking.
I'm not sure, but Chafee is certainly a RINO amongst RINOs.
That would be sweet, I doubt the SOB has a cheating machine in place, probably never needed one.
R.I. conservatives actually have a chance to take him out in the primary.
He's certainly an embarrassment, isn't he?
He's not a Tom Coburn conservative, but he's more conservative than most New England Republicans.
Frankly, any chance to get rid of Chaffee is worth taking. His seat is practically held by the Dems as it is.
Go Laffey!!! I don't even care if you were a Democrat!!
Time to thin the herd of RINOs!!!!
"His seat is practically held by the Dems as it is."
Very true.
Chaffee needs to lose. Even if Laffey doesn't win the general election, the rinos will realize they can't play their games anymore so it will mean more overall Republican votes in the Senate.
That would be interesting, considering that Chafee publically admitted that he didn't vote fore Bush.
At least it will be a sign to the White House. We will no longer roll over and let them pick our elected officials.
Unfortunately we may win the battle and lose the war.
Take Chaffee out.
Some states will never elect a conservative Republican, and most conservatives realize that and will cut them some slack with regard to politically sensetive votes. But Chafee is an uber-RINO and can't even be relied upon to stay in the party if he's reelected.
I just do not understand Pres. Bush's loyalty to Arlene; I wouldn't trust that man (not Pres. Bush; Specter) as far as I could see him, and yet Pres. Bush pulled out all the stops to get him re-elected. Go figure.
I'm not giving a dime. Not because of politics but because we have our races here in CO to contend with.
I DO suggest donating to the candidate you agree with. BUT, I would cover my bet by donating to a RINO Republican, something like $20. Once that is done, I'd tell the RINO the donation is a hedge bet thinking he/she can be convinced easier than some Democrat who would be so much worse. Don't hesitate in telling ANY polition what you think or support. That's the name of the game and it's up to them to represent you. No politician takes a non-donor seriously enough.
