President George W Bush says: "I am troubled by the initial news stories. I am mindful there is a thorough investigation going on. If in fact laws were broken there will be punishment."What's scary is there are some folks, including some on this very ping list, that are deeply upset by Dubya, in their words, being gutless and/or selling out our Marines.
Let's think for a minute. Does anyone here want a POTUS that would not find the execution of a 3-year old girl and her family troubling? I sure don't. There are a lot of questions surrounding this case, but her and her family are dead. The President recognizes an ongoing investigation or two, and recognizes no charges have been filed and no verdict of guilt assigned.
Thank you for a measured, reasonable response, Mr. President.

Its not a measured response. Its kissing media butt while official investigations are in progress. He should keep his mouth shut until he gets the official reports.

Most adults understand the President does not have the luxury of keeping his mouth shut.

He has the luxury of saying "there are official investigations on going and we are awaiting those results."
And the investigation results we are waiting for are not being done by Time Magazine.

I'm more PO'd at the media for persecuting the Marines and the military without full knowledge of what actually happened....not they havent done it before

He has the luxury of saying "there are official investigations on going and we are awaiting those results." Which is just what he said. So we're in agreement his response was appropriate. Wonderful!

Hopefully this will all blow over soon, with the Marines getting a fair shake in the matter. It may turn out to be they all get of the hook, despite the ongoing variation of alledge charges. Gotta run. Full day work schedule ahead of me.

This is the most truthful article on the event so far. Only thing missing is that all the "facts" so far have come from "unnamed defense official", "anonymous sources", anti-American "human rights organizations" and suspect muslims.

As a Marine mom (first Gulf War) my instincts were to NOT believe this story.
Until I hear accounts from somebody other than an 'Iragi local'.....my mind won't change.

I think the Marine Corps needs to start a new tradition.
Demanding Blood Money for every Marine killed in these areas from those Iraqi tribes that rule there.
If they really want to play this game, then let's make them play by our rules, for every vehicle destroyed they have to pay for , for every soldier wounded they have to pay for, for every soldier maimed they have to pay for the rest of his life, for every one of our soldiers killed their family gets paid for what they would have earned had they lived a full life, for our every removal of Saddam Hussein they have to pay for, for our very presence there and our continued attacks on Al Queda they have to pay for.
If we have to pay Blood Money, then damn it, they are going to have to pay Blood Money, and we'll make them pay more, we'll send in Our lawyers.
Stressed out by repeated attacks by Iraqi insurgents?
Has your Hummvee been destroyed by an Iraqi IED?
Have you been wounded by an Iraqi insurgent?
Been maimed by an Iraqi insurgent attack?
Lost a love one Due to the malice of Iraqi insurgents?
I can get you Iraqis Blood money for all your pain and suffering.
My Name is al-Maket Hem Bin Ovar of Bin Ovar and Spreadem and I want to be your Blood Money lawyer call me today at 1-800-BIN OVER or E-Mail me at BinOvar&Spread-em@AOhell.COM
And I'll make sure you get the full amount due to you Because at Bin Ovar and Spreadem making them pay is what we do.

Members of the U.S. military serving in Iraq need more than Mr. Murtha's pseudo-sympathy. They need leaders to stand with them even in the hardest of times. Let the courts decide if these Marines are guilty.I emailed and called my Senator and Congressman -- both the local and DC offices -- and asked them to stand up and say that what Murtha is doing in the media is wrong. I'm thinking I may repeat the process every couple of days or so until I see them doing it. Maybe if a bunch of us do that we can get some of our congresscritters to stand up.

I'm glad this was posted. We have some friends in Paris; her father fought in Algeria in the 50's. She said, "He told me, 'We learned NEVER to trust the Arabs. They will stab you in the back every time.'" Is this secret knowledge??? I think not.

I think the MSM has a lot to answer for. We are continuously receiving offers of gifts and tremendous discounts if we will subscribe to Time or Newsweek, and I continuously tear them to shreds. I refuse to allow either piece of trash in our home.
