If the WaPo is admitting there are holes in the case, it must be a really bad case.

I just posted this on another thread but it the same piece so I'll post it again.

It looks as if the DOD and the NCIS are carrying out the investigation without first saying that the Marines are guilty of cold blooded murder, they are doing a professional job.

Attention Congressman Murtha!

You are an elected official in the United States of America and a Representative of the people.

In this country we have what is known as the presumption of innocence.

You not only owe these Marines an apology, you owe every person in this nation one followed by your resignation.

I've been following this case and was stunned to read tonight they haven't even examined the bodies, yet the Marines have already been convicted by the media and Murtha.

"24 people in the Subhani district of Haditha faced a different death, witnesses and survivors say."

"She said American troops shot and killed her husband, Rashid Abdul Hamid. They killed her father-in-law, Abdul Hamid Hassan Ali, a 77-year-old in a wheelchair, shooting him in the chest and abdomen, she said."

"Her sister-in-law, Asma, "collapsed when her husband was killed"

"Two brothers-in-law, Jahid Abdul Hamid Hassan and Walid Abdul Hamid Hassan, were also killed,"

Here's some more interesting info courtesty of Velveeta and boxerblues.

Strange indeed..like this one who has now had a total of 4 versions of what happened

Safa Younis Salim, the 12-year-old, said she lay on the ground, covered with her sister's blood, and pretended to be dead while her family died around her. Her sister's blood spurted fast; it was like a water tap, she said.

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2003031922_hadithatale01.html

Safa Younis (also seen spelled as Yunis) Salim.

There was one survivor, Safa Younis Salim, 13, who in an interview said she lived by faking her death. "I pretended that I was dead when my brother's body fell on me and he was bleeding like a faucet," she said.

Only 13-year-old Safa Younis lived -- saved, she said, by her mother's blood spilling onto her, making her look dead when she fell, limp, in a faint.

Twelve-year-old Safa says she survived by hiding under the bed.

Dig 'em up. The evidence must be procured. This is a smear campaign by the fifth column Marxist Media and the enemy. Time to prove our mutual enemies WRONG and then prosecute them full bore.

DU: "My God, they're killing babies." THIS IS IT. IT STOPS NOW. THE HOPE,IS WITH THE PROLES! STOP THIS WAR!

One has to appreciate the irony in the "killing babies" statement.

It's worse than that. The doctor that changed the reports from shrapnel to bullet wounds is very questionable. See the "Haditha Doctor Was Arrested, Hates US, Too" thread.

Remember the child "witness" in the videos had SHRAPNEL wounds.

This whole mess in getting stinkier by the minute.

Representative Murtha said a marine fired an AK-47 rifle so there would be spent cartridges near the body, making it look as if the victim had been firing a weapon.

WHAAAAT?? How the H-E-DOUBLE HOCKEYSTICKS does the congressvermin who can't shut his piehole know this??

Oh my Lord, I am so angry, I am crying!

Senator John W. Warner, a Virginia Republican who leads the Armed Services Committee, pledged Sunday to hold hearings on the Haditha killings as soon as the military investigation is concluded.

"I’ll do exactly what we did with Abu Ghraib," he said on the ABC News program "This Week," referring to hearings.

Rep. John Murtha, a Pennsylvania Democrat and former marine who has become a fierce critic of the Iraq war, said he had no doubt marines killed innocent civilians in Haditha and tried to cover up the deaths. Marine Corps officials, he said on the same television program, have told him that troops shot one woman "in cold blood" who was bending over her child begging for mercy.

Marine Corps officials told Murtha this? Really?

I agree with your point; I've seen plenty of pix of US soldiers carrying AK-47's (I assume they are better than US issue arms at certain ranges or tasks, perhaps more reliable in the sand) and (fewer, but still) plenty of insurgents/terrorists carrying M-16 type weapons, so what this will prove, I am not sure. If one batch of rounds was sprayed into both the walls and the prone bodies of civilians, it's strong evidence that they were killed within those walls, but by whom would appear indeterminate. Regardless, no US investigation will be believed.

>>Let's hope this proves our Marines are innocent.<<

While that would be ideal, I'll settle for a presumption of innocence and placing the burden of proof on the prosecution we give child molesters and rapists the presumption of innocence - its the least we can do our Marines.
