In his race against RINO Tom Kean Jr., John Ginty is certainly an underdog. However, he's got a legitimate chance off pulling of an upset if enough people hear about him and how his positions differ from those of Kean. To date, most Republicans I've spoken to about the Ginty/Kean primary race have switched to supporting Ginty once Kean's liberal positions were made clear.
In the interest of further spreading the word, I got my hands on a Ginty flyer and scanned it in. Here's a very lo-res version of what it looks like:
A slightly-higher-res PDF version of this flyer suitable for printing is available here:

If you are a NJ resident (or know one), a conservative, and want to have a choice in November, please print this out and distribute it.
Otherwise, it will be liberal versus socialist yet again.

I don't think Kean is a RINO. These days, it seems like any pro-choice Republican is automatically labeled as a RINO. For those of you who didn't realize, the Republican Party was not founded on opposing abortion. The father of the modern conservative movement, Barry Goldwater, was pro-choice, and I don't think anybody in their right mind would call him a RINO. I want somebody who will support free trade and lower taxes and who can beat Bob Menendez. That person is Tom Kean and I will be voting for him in the primary next week.

Oh, no. Of course not. He's just pro-abortion. Pro-homo. Anti-gun. Pro-open-borders. Sounds like a good Conservative to me. /sarc

Barry was also from the generation before Roe v. Wade. If he was still a pro-abort after the carnage of millions of US abortions since 1973, then I've got a worse term for him than a RINO, honestly.
In case you haven't noticed, the Republican Party is still officially pro-life. The day that plank gets removed is the day that I and millions of others will register as independents. Is that really where you want to go?

Yes, he was "pro-abort" after it was legal, because he thought it was a private area in which the government had no business making private decisions.
Oh, and his first wife, Peggy, was a founder of Planned Parenthood in Arizona. http://www.plannedparenthood.org/pp2/can/aboutus/goldwater_award.xml

Excellent. Thank you. In that case, Barry Goldwater was an @ss and his wife a despicable creature.
If I remember correctly, Barry also came out in favor of butt-sex marriage as well toward the end of his life.

He did think they should be able to serve in the military, and had gay family members.
That explains a great deal. Goldwater was a good Republican in a time when the Rockefeller types ruled the party. It's evident in retrospect that he had feet of clay.
Thank God the party's not like that anymore--though his RINO progeny are making currently trying their best.

Hi All- I'm a pro-stem cell research and pro-choice Republican who will be giving my support to John Ginty next week. Those issues are very important to me...but the threat against our Second Amendment is of even greater concern. For this reason alone I am compelled to give him a solid thumbs-up. John Ginty's educational credentials are pretty impressive as well.

I voted for Ginty.
Too bad he lost.
Honestly, I don't see myself voting this November but if I do, I am voting libertarian. No more "lesser evil" votes from me.

Hi Antoninus- It appears that John Ginty was creamed in this primary, but I hope the 24% showing (by a guy with little money and no name-recognition) sends a clear message to Tom Kean, Jr. that we'll be keeping an eye on him should he win in the general election.

John was a long-shot from day one. But he came from nowhere and had a respectable showing. As for Kean, he's a liberal so I expect nothing from him. If he wins, let him do it with liberal votes. He won't be getting mine.

Hi Antoninus- I'm torn on the issue. There is a twisted side of me that almost wants to allow New Jersey to become a truly uninhabitable cesspool if that's what the so-called "majority" really wants. Residents of this state need to learn how to sleep in the bed they make...
The other side of me thinks that perhaps if we can get an occasional Republican in office we might start to form a small foothold where real conservatives can plan their strategy and reach for higher office.
I'll have to think about it some more...

The other side of me thinks that perhaps if we can get an occasional Republican in office we might start to form a small foothold where real conservatives can plan their strategy and reach for higher office.
I used to feel that way too. Then I realized that the "moderate" (ie, liberal) strategy is to win offices as "centrist Republicans" and take over the state and local apparatus of the GOP, chasing true conservatives out in the process and replacing them with more "moderates." When a true conservative happens to win a primary, the "moderates" promptly support the Democrats. The strategy is not difficult to see. The "moderate" toadies are out there on FR every day doing what they do.
Now that I know that this is how they operate, I'm not about to help them do it by casting votes for liberal Republicans. They pay no attention to the issues that are important to me. Therefore, they can win without my vote.
