Pilotless plane took video of town where Iraqis died (Important)

WASHINGTON - Military investigators piecing together what happened in the Iraqi town of Al-Hadithah on Nov. 19, 2005 -- when Marines allegedly killed two dozen civilians -- have access to video shot by a pilotless aircraft that was circling overhead for at least part of that day, military defense attorneys familiar with the case said in interviews.

It is unclear whether the video obtained from that day's flight captured the violence, said the attorneys, who have consulted with Marines who were there. One attorney said investigators have reviewed surveillance footage taken hours after the shootings, which showed the Marines returning to the town to remove the bodies of the Iraqis.

Monday, Marine Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said charges will be issued if the evidence merits it. For now, ``it would be premature for me to judge'' the outcome of the two U.S. military investigations, Pace said on CBS's ``The Early Show.''

Yet another great find. We need to keep chipping away.

(See Velveeta's post).

Yes, he is saying what many of us are....wait for the investigation, and deserve the presumption of innocence..

So your "benefit of the doubt" to Marines only applies to certain Marines, where you want to give the benefit of the doubt. Others, not so much benefit, more doubt.

"Murtha has inserted himself into this story in a HUGE way. "

That's right. He's using this for political purposes, as are others.

My point was that I think it's simply an editorial cut. The San Jose story is 462 words long and the Post article is 802 words long.

It's possible. But its a pretty important statement to the story, if one is interested in genesis of the charges being flung around.

I'm sure you were also giving all kinds of 'benefit of the doubt' to Wassef Ali Hassoun, right?

I did and I'm not ashamed of it either.

"I don't trust the words of those whose faith encourages lies - taqiyya."

One alleged survivor - 10-year-old Iman Waleed - claimed that she and about a dozen others were rounded up into a room into which the Marines tossed two grenades, then opened fire with their automatic rifles. She claimed that she and two others - an aunt and uncle, I think - survived this, apparently with minor injuries. Somehow, I don't fund that credible, unless a grenade doesn't pack the wallop I think it does, and unless the Marines are incredibly bad shots.

The story isn't about that. Murtha is simply using the story.

So your "benefit of the doubt" to Marines only applies to certain Marines,

Marines that dishonor the Corps are dishonorably discharged.

At Camp Pendleton in 1961 my Battalion "drummed" a deserter out of the Corps. After the charges were read the Battalion Adjutant then stated in a booming voice your fellow Marines "turn their back on you".

At that point the entire Battalion was commanded to do an "about face". The two armed guards then escorted the former Marine, now in his civvies, to the front gate.

They get the benefit of the doubt until there is no doubt. Then the Corps is dishonored and you are summarily "drummed" out.

Murtha's gross accusations of "cold blooded" murder has more than fueled the story to above the fold news across the globe. Until then it was a quiet investigation, by MSM standards. This is not just a story about what happened, its a story about jumping the gun, innocence until proven guilty, quagmires, and the whole enchilada in Iraq. That is how the MSM is framing it, with hundreds and hundreds of stories.

I would be MORE than suprised if 1/10th of the accusations are true (putting kids in the room and tossing in grenades, shooting an old wheelchair bound man in the chest, shooting kneeling women at point blank range). Sounds to me the jihadis are overplaying their hand.

Over the past few years the press has really done all of the USofA a huge favor. We now know them for the scum they are and are no longer chumps for their reporting.

They have revealed themselves long ago. But they figure repition is the key to getting people to believe them now. It still works to a large degree, but the internet age has defanged them. We still have lots of work to do.
