I've always preferred dealing with people who readily and freely admit they stand somewhere-- everyone has biases, positions, and a certain viewpoint, and as long as they are honest about it, I can apply my own corrections. If needed.
I have always maintained that any reasonably literate and educated person can write a news story.
It is not quantuum mechanics- you get the five "W's," talk to everybody and summarize their stories ( and contrary to what people believe, there aren't two sides to every story, there are often three, four, or more... ) and if you see a need for commentary, add, "In my opinion, this is what is happening."
I guess I fall prey to MSM marketing where the news is "fair and balanced" or it is supposed to be..
I've been involved in several news stories myself.. and was quite surprised on how much the stories differed from what actually occurred, they were full of errors..
