NEW YORK — A cameraman and soundman for CBS were killed and a CBS correspondent was seriously injured Monday after their convoy was struck by a roadside bomb in Iraq, the network said.

Veteran cameraman Paul Douglas, 48, and soundman James Brolan, 42, were killed, CBS reported on its Web site. Correspondent Kimberly Dozier, 39, was in critical condition at a U.S. military hospital in Baghdad after undergoing surgery.

The three were reporting on patrol with the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, when their convoy was hit by an improvised explosive device, CBS said.

These primative IED's get the award for weapon of the war.

Perfect for chewing up a modern army on the ground over an extended period of time. More importantly, it gets press and demoralizes and puts the fear of god in the populace.

In no way is the army being chewed up by IEDs. We have 130,000 people in Iraq. They kill, what, 2-3 a day when lucky? That is in no way "chewing up a modern army". This is all propaganda and you are falling for it.

I believe there were American soldiers killed and wounded in this explosion too. Along with Iraqis.
Might have been nice of FOX to at least mention it.

More importantly, it gets press

These attacks are only getting the press because W is President and the Republicans are in power.

If it were a Dimocrat president, you can bet your bottom dollar that news reports would be pointing out how these attacks, while gruesome, cannot do any large damage to our military. The media would be giving us a positive view of Iraq.

The MSM reports the news the way they want it to be portrayed. You have to remember that. Can this eventually affect the conflict? Yes, by changing the minds of the peeples, to get the peeples to believe our military is being destroyed by these IED's sort of like what you now believe.

Never EVER forget what Walter Cronkite and the media did to us in Vietnam!!

There's no report on CBS about it either. Neither on MSNBC. CNN is the only one who says so

CBS article

MSNBC

CNN

I agree.... the media has been against Bush and this war since it started. They'll consistantly spin stories to put the administration in a bad light. Expect the tone of the stories to change once a Democrat assumes power.

Not the same article just the same information. It seems pointless to post the same information simply because it comes from another source.

"never ever forget what Walter Cronkite and the media did to us in Vietnam"

Most Americans never understood what the media did in Vietnam and how successfully they did it.

If you want to bet your bottom dollar, bet that the terrorists and dead enders in Iraq understand this. The terrorists have bet their last dollar on the media and libs coming through for them just like they did in Vietnam. Looks like they made a very good bet!

Look, I don't know what you're take on reality is, but it's obviously not a good one. Losing 2-3 soldiers a day is not a good thing, by any stretch. But in addition, you end up with wounded from the IEDs, soldiers losing limbs, head trauma (which has increased massively during this conflict) and so on. And seeing wounded buddies has a bad effect on morale.

So no, we're not being chewed up. We're being pricked to death. Maybe such things don't concern you, but since I have family over there, I take these things seriously. I'm not 'falling for propaganda'. I'm looking at reality.

We need to keep this in perspective. Iraq is a low scale insurgency. It is not a major war. In major wars hundreds to thousands are lost every month. Battles have 100+ losses. None of this is happening in Iraq.

Iraq is primarily a propaganda war.
If we don't have the stomach for Iraq, we might as well hoist the green flag of Islam over the White House right now.

Iraq is a low scale insurgency barreling towards a civil war. It was mismanaged from the start and continues to be mismanaged. When compared it to Afganistan, which was a well planned, implemented, and executed campaign, it looks like the boondoggle that it is. Our soldiers deserve better.

Fox must've read what you said because they did mention one U.S. soldier killed in the explosion.

These attacks are only getting the press because W is President and the Republicans are in power.

Respectfully disagree.

The MSM had no problem reporting Army deaths in Somalia when clinton was in power.

The left will say or do anything to weaken and disunite our country.

That said, prayers for the victims. It's the Christian thing.
